New bee decree: the planned end of arboriculture and market gardening in France

On June 11, the Ministries of Agriculture and Ecology presented a second version of the pollinator plan in which the new bees decree was detailed.

Despite the contributions of Coordination Rurale and other producer organizations, the ideology of the project has hardly changed. According to this text, farmers are prohibited from treating crops during flowering, with the exception of 5 hours a day, including 3 hours after sunset. Barbara Pompili, Minister for the Ecological Transition, claimed not to force farmers to work at night. However, it was only a trompe-l'oeil!

The CR also stresses that all phytosanitary products will have to pass tests again to prove their harmlessness against pollinators. In view of the orientations taken, it seems inevitable that the few substances still authorized will be impacted and there is no doubt that the “survivors” will be counted on the fingers of one hand.

As written, this text will put a stop to the production of fruit and vegetables in France. Not only is the issue of safety for night work ignored, but with only 5 hours of treatment authorized per day, a certain number of professionals will not be able to validly protect their crops. In addition, this purely French regulation will only strengthen the competitiveness gains of our main competitors.

In the end, the increase in costs and constraints generated by this text will lead to the closure of farms and the abandonment of production. By claiming to protect pollinators, the decree eliminates part of the food resource for insects.

Finally, the new rules for filing Marketing Authorizations (MAs) pose an obvious risk for minor uses.

La Coordination Rurale firmly maintains its opposition to this ideological text which designates agriculture as the only culprit and which could spell the end of arboriculture. https://www.coordinationrurale.fr/nouve ... maraichage
A loss of earnings for the beekeepers who put their hives in the orchards in agreement with the arborists and above all a suicidal application of a purely ideological political policy.
After having sacrificed industry, will only tourism in France remain?

the scheduled end of arboriculture and market gardening in France : Shock: : Shock: : Shock:

Izy, his hooves and his big (big) words ...

You know that the world, trees, fruits, vegetables ... existed (and survived) BEFORE pesticides !! : Cheesy:

ps: I do not understand the concept of 5 hours a day ... it all depends on the surfaces to be treated and the methods or means of treatment !! On average 5 hours a day is HUGE in terms of treatment time it seems to me ...

And all the more for an orchard which only has a fairly moderate area compared to the hundreds of hectares of a cereal farm!

Then what is this unit of duration ...Better to talk about the concentration of pesticide per unit area per year, no ???

Actually, I don't understand. This text goes in the right direction. Moreover, nothing prevents arborists from developing new means of controlling pests, whether chemical or not.

The planned end of arboriculture is a bit of a joke as a publicity ... the rise in prices, maybe less. But I would gladly pay more for my fruits and vegetables, if that means less smacking the bees! In fact, I already do ...

And you know that for centuries, the serfs and then the farm workers exhausted themselves to maintain them, for a miserable retribution?

All modern techniques were adopted because they made people's lives easier. Find out a little about the old life you want the peasants to return to.

The question of pollinators is raised only because of the business of beekeepers. They want to continue their animal exploitation by sabotaging the working conditions of farmers, while it is not even proven that pesticides are the main cause of their worries!
