Perhaps an idea of optimizing the vegetable garden of the lazy: would it be interesting, according to the specialists of this forum, to make a sort of "decoction" of compost to water your vegetable garden?
If it's interesting (chemically speaking) we could consider an "automatic" lazy solution with rainwater which would draw nutrients from a more or less waterproof (water-tight) compost bin ... and this therefore continuously.
Cold, the main disadvantage I see is the risk of putrefaction (and dilution?) If there is too much water ...

Re: Compost juice to water his vegetable garden?
I did it this year.
A braided bag containing compost of green waste platform, in the tank, no putrefaction since it is totally composted.
This is just a try because spreading the compost at the foot of the plants comes down to the same. The juice is formed by watering. Same for decaying mulch, I think.

IH MAN
personally I do not even know with exactitude that the compost juice brings to the earth and has the screw in the ground!
for me c one of the first rapiponce to know ,,, if its enters in a virtuous shekel of all the life of the ground and if yes how ?? ??
and if so at what dose for the soil and the crop of our plants
of course I think of the life of the soil and its perenniality and after him if it, not will bring all that it not false to words vegetables and other plants of our garden

Ah, I see that big minds (ideas) meet on the forums econological ... Finally you have to see if it is chemically interesting
And what results did you have? If you have any perceptible?
If so, I think the solution of an "automation" would be interesting:
a) composting bin with "watertight" bottom to create a water reserve (of the type a bin with 2 levels: compost with ventilation at the top, a hopper and watertight "juice" bin at the bottom)
b) the rain would come up, pass through the compost to load
c) a height of the tank to have a manometric height and allow an easy watering or automatic spreading (drip) would be a "plus"

That's why I made this subject: to have the opinion of specialists including Did67 ... some nutrients must pass easily into the water, others may not be so easily ... (solubility) .. .

Yes the concentration and dosage are also important, for example, with nettle manure (which is finally a kind of compost juice) too concentrated one can burn plants ...

yes c for his that for the moment I do not do anything that exceeds the limit of my knowledge and if I make a minimal result on my plans ("(harvest and other)", I prefer to have less for me, than to alter the soil or the soil of plants in small containers of 20 A 80 liters of earth, which one can have on the terrace of the house

Re: Compost juice to water his vegetable garden?
Hello,
I had a worm composter, for more bobo issues burning kitchen waste.
The system is valid wherever there is no access to land, initially in the apartment, the gnats are forced to lower it in the cellar, but in the end, the stable temperature of a cellar is ideal .
We no longer have a cellar and the too low frequency of our return to the country does not encourage me to put it back on the road.
It seemed to me that the juice that resulted was a good fertilizer boost.
The advantage compared to traditional compost seems to me undeniable, with a more complex implementation, but 100% recoverable, faster, and with less effort, potting soil and juice.
For compost, professionals must do it on slab, (and farmers too) because of the possible pollution of the subsoils that leaching induces.
I can only encourage those who want to boost in spring, (or transplanting, semi, etc.) and recover the soil to put a vermicomposer in place, with 60 / 40 bins adapted and not too small and expensive to trade.
For the rest, surface composting remains the best solution.
Olivier.

Not enough wall either. Too aggressive for the roots.Christophe wrote:Yes the concentration and dosage are also important, for example, with nettle manure (which is finally a kind of compost juice) too concentrated one can burn plants ...
Hard to say I've been doing that for a week.Christophe wrote:And what results did you have? If you have any perceptible?
On the other hand, I made a dry toilet separating last fall. Since then, I have been storing the urine in a tank in the garden.
My garden was created on prairie in 2005.
I had had a very good harvest of squash and since then I had been feeding with the manure of a goat and the broyat coming from hedge sizes.
not enough, yields declined.
I did not do much last year.
This year I made a nursery with seeds of pumpkins recovered from purchased gourds. I have lost a lot because of too great variations in temperature. I planted the rest a little bit and I used the method of Renaud de Looze and soltner. not succeeded for carrots, parsnips, but for squash, I renew the yield. the radishes also grow well (urine 1 / 20 with each watering).
Some photos: vegetable courgette (bag of seeds) the previous one made 3.5 Kg and that there is bigger .
Gray courgette of Algiers I think, must be a feet I was given (4.6 kg)
View of the garden. Putting on each other in the foreground.
The artichokes a little further.
Behind the urine tank and black waste bins (200 l) my water reserve. The vats are in the cellar, at 150 m.
On the right the greenhouse whose roof has been redone with battens and plastic recovery. I have a new diffusing stain to ask, because my tomatoes have suffered from the strong heat.

Re: Compost juice to water his vegetable garden?
It's funny we thought about it lately ....
In fact we just wanted to blender our household waste ... add water and water with this mixture
I confess, of course, that it is unclear whether it is better or worse than slipping the entire waste under the hay and letting it deteriorate ....
If you have an idea??? It is

Without indiscretion what do you do with such zucchini? Is it to give chickens?
