Hello everyone.
I just bought a water softener (not at Culligan and other hotels comerçants ...), because of the high rate of limestone present in the water of the region.
Watching very carefully our water consumption, I wondered what to do with the fifty liters of water that normally go to the sewer during regeneration (all 5m3 treated water).
What exactly does this water contain?
If anyone can enlighten my lantern ...
Water softener
Hello,
1 m3 processed for 5 m3 rejects?
is it "pure" drinking water?

Hello
The bottle around the resin contains brine
The brine initially contains dissolved sodium chloride (salt)
It is a solution that contains Cl (chloride) ions and Na (sodium) ions
During the softening phase of the sanitary water, through the resin, the Ca (Calcium) ion is replaced by the Sodium ion, the carbonate ion remains in the water.
So softened water is a solution of sodium carbonate
As for the brine, it contains only calcium chloride just before the regeneration.
A+
