Tesla's non-return valve

by Christophe » 20/10/20, 13:36

Crazy ... another little-known and super brilliant invention from Tesla ...

But why do we never talk about it at school ???? : Shock: : Shock: : Shock:

Disadvantages: it takes a certain flow for it to work and it does not block 100% of the flow ...

And for those who are equipped with a 3D printer, models exist.

Linear: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2000693

Cylindrical (probably much more efficient): https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2668591

A redesigned version which should work better, especially at low flow: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4318071

I wonder at what flow rates it works ... with water and air ...

Hey, hey ... FranceCulture also asked itself the question in 2017:

Should we rehabilitate Nikola Tesla?

https://www.franceculture.fr/emissions/ ... kola-tesla

But what had he done so despicably to be erased like that from scientific history? Otherwise the wish to distribute free of charge* electricity to humanity and getting confused with the mediocre scientist but good businessman that was Edison ???

* I'm not talking about production but distribution ...

Who was Nicolas Tesla? What were his great inventions at the time? How did he change the electrical industrial context and radically change the electrical industry? What was the nature of her relationship with the famous Thomas Edison?

If we are to believe the biographies devoted to him, he was "The man who enlightened the world", or even outright "the man who invented the twentieth century". He is the inventor of alternating current, modern electricity, certainly the first radio waves, the concept of remote control and even in a way the idea of wifi and directed energy weapons. Mad scientist, crippled by OCDs, chronic insomniac, profound humanist, he ended his life ruined and miserable in a hotel room in New York. In short, Nikola TESLA has all the cursed scientist and a truly Shakespearean fate.

Why do we need to rehabilitate Nikola Tesla? This is the problem that will occupy The Scientific Method in the next hour.

And to carry out this rehabilitation undertaking, The Scientific Method is pleased to welcome Ilarion Pavel, chief engineer of Mines, researcher at the theoretical physics laboratory of the École Normale Supérieure and Gérard Borvon, physics teacher, you have published " The history of electricity, from amber to electron ”published by Vuibert.

"The man who enlightened the world", "The man who invented the twentieth century", are we not going a little too far in the opposite direction, as is often the case in rehabilitation companies? Or is Nikola Tesla really a genius of this caliber, forgotten for too long?

About the Tesla valve, are there any applications where it is used or its drawbacks make it uninteresting compared to a classic valve?

No idea ... but it would be a shame if it was not exploited ... given the genius of its simplicity!

As much with water as with air, the applications would be numerous !!!

The patent has been in the public domain for ... uh 100 years?

I knew it !

A valve invented by Nikola Tesla in 1920 could find modern use

Researchers have discovered a "hidden function" of this ingenious invention. The system also has the advantage of requiring no maintenance!

It was great in its day.
Today we are making perfectly reliable classic valves which have the advantage of completely blocking circulation in one direction. Tesla's was leaky, it's hardly acceptable.

It depends on the application, right?

Yes. Do you have any examples of applications where a leaky valve is not a problem?
