This evening after the beautiful day of sun I wanted to water my garden with my cistern water and this with a simple watering can and its pear the problem is that we water on too large a surface of round shape, so a simple idea for save water:
stick a strip of sticky on each side of the pear leaving two to three strips of hole only so the spray is concentrated less loss and more profitability with the watering can



an overview of the watered lines we can see that there is little loss on the sides



here I hope others will find it interesting and use the idea, or share other ideas like

Drip watering at night to avoid evaporation under mulch is very economical.

Good idea, the "simpler" are often the best ... but the tape doesn't have to last very long if?

Ah yeah, this is precision watering!

But, although very poor in agriculture / horticulture, I wonder if it's really good:

the roots down, it needs a humid "environment", right?

In my opinion it's a bit exaggerated

Unfortunately, the earth which is dry on the sides will quickly absorb the water by capillarity.
Tournai is not far from France, and there you can easily find the drip pipes there.

Form a cone with a dibber,
create an additional hole at the head of the cone
spill a bottle of water.

The bottle will empty at the rate of absorption of the earth,
the water will not rise to the surface.

The other advantage of this system,

Certainly less evaporation, but not:

Zero evaporation

by heat wave, because the water rises to the surface to evaporate by heat wave (diffusion), and it is the same drop by drop underground.

This is why mulch and more mulching reduce evapotranspiration and keep the soil cool and "moist". On the other hand, watering at the foot should only be done at transplanting and between the plants then, otherwise the earthworms and other animalcules take refuge in damp soil and soon followed by moles, other efficient plowmen who will then cut the roots.
