We look forward to seeing you!

The summary of the home page thrills. although we hear or read it right to left, the melting of permafrost is very serious.
Nicolas Vanier noticed it not more than a month ago during his Siberian crossing from Lake Baikal to Moscow. He saw the difference with his previous expeditions to Alaska and further north.

it was highlighted in 2005 that the Siberian (but also Canadian) permafrost was starting to melt significantly, an assumption that was envisaged by the end of 2020 - 2030 at the earliest a few years ago.

Come on, I add my layer (no ozone). When we see that they want (oil and gas) to use methane clathrates, if they destabilize them ... Besides that if the water heats up above a certain limit, they will be destabilized and large quantities of methane will be released ...

Indeed, in particular the champagne effect which can be caused by sudden variations in pressure (underwater explosions, earthquake) or a slow variation in temperature abysmal.

Acid rains

by bojourvous5094 » 17/04/06, 19:41

Acid rain back :!: : Shock:
Canada
Documents produced by Environment Canada researchers and obtained by Le Devoir suggest that, contrary to what most Canadians think, more than 75% of the eastern part of the country is threatened by the slow accumulation of acidity levels in the soil.

Environment Canada researchers have found that Northern Quebec, more fragile due to the low permeability of its soil, is a victim of emissions from the extraction of oil and oil sands from the West and, also, emissions from the oil and gas industry in the Maritimes.
____
Sulfur dioxide deposits are expected to decrease by 21% by 2020 in the east of the country, but will increase by 15% in the west. The second main component of acid rain, nitrogen oxides, is expected to decrease by 39% in the East and increase by 5% in the West. ( in theory )

Climate Change
Ottawa would opt for the American project

Federal Minister of the Environment Rona Ambrose plans to join the ranks of the Asia-Pacific partnership, an American project to reduce greenhouse gases (GHG).

This treaty, to which the United States, Australia, India, Japan, China and South Korea have adhered, shares the main principles of the Kyoto Protocol, according to the minister. However, it is not legally binding, and does not set any limit on carbon dioxide emissions.

Ambrose says Canada will not join the Asia-Pacific partnership and will not join any other international negotiations until it finds a way to better control its own emissions. " We have to clean up our garden before we start to get involved internationally regarding international agreements that would cover the period after 2012, "she said.

A report from the United Nations Climate Change Secretariat recently revealed that the level of GHG emissions in Canada in 2003 had increased by 24% since 1990.

The United States, which refused to join the Kyoto Protocol, has been more successful than Canada in controlling its GHG emissions.

Quebec, champion of small cars

by bojourvous5094 » 04/05/06, 01:18

Quebec, champion of small cars 8)

Trend in Quebec, 67,4% small “eco-friendly” carsIn the absence of a factory, Quebec manages to stand out in the auto market in Canada and even on the North American continent. Quebec consumers are buying or leasing more and more economical and ecological small cars, depending on the reduction in GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions.

We buy 59% of compact and subcompact cars in Canada… Large commercial vehicles have dropped by 33% ... Vehicles with low fuel consumption have gone from 48% to 55% since the year 2000. Lately, the government has had the idea of taxing small cars because they would presumed less safe…. : roll:
