Hi everybody,
I just had an idea, if a spark gap is placed before a car's spark plugs, the spark from the spark plug should have more "sin" and therefore could have energy savings.
Am I wrong ?
Sincerely,

Re: candles and spark gap
Hello
It has been a long time since a break in the electrode of the candle, this system has been abolished since the high energy ignitions.

Hello Siera
This system can improve the old type ignition coil switch. The spark gap is sometimes already integrated in the candle cap or even in the candle. Do not try on certain electronic ignitions (kind Motoplat found on motorcycles) you'll grill everything ....

No, you're not wrong but the presence of a "pre" -éclateur favored the operation of the candles.
Apparently it is more true with the "new" ignitions ...

Hello,
Beware of parasites in the radio ..
in the combustion chamber the mixture is compressed
compressed air is an insulator it takes a voltage high enough to spring on space 1mm while in the open air a space of 6 mm is relatively easy.
If we want to make a mechanical ananlogy this space has free air
makes a kind of shock (a bit like the game on a valve that facilitates the detachment on the seat ..
This principle is in the ignitions two candles in series on the two cylinders at the top dead center, one is in compression the other finished are exhaust and begins its admission
tilting of the valves.
This is the system on the 2CV and many engines nowadays

Hello Siera
If your ignition is a simple magnetic flywheel it does not work.
You may not even be able to start and not be able to take turns. At the candle you have a spacing 0.45 or 0.5 mm barely you increase the gap it starts to mess.
If you have an electronic ignition, look at your notice, if it is mentioned that it is not necessary to extinguish the engine by removing the cap of the candle, it is necessary to translate that if you do it you grill the ignition, therefore the spark gap is not suitable at all ....
