Draw in 3D your projects: Google SketchUp 6

by Ibis. » 16/01/09, 19:50

Hello,

I just downloaded this free google software for drawing in 3D. It is impressive and full of possibilities for technical drawing and for installation plans.

It still takes a lot of editing to get out of your own plans, but yes, the software is super easy to handle and powerful ...

It is a really impressive tool both for its simplicity and its ease of handling!
But hey it's still very basic and as soon as you want to make a little advanced forms, it's screwed up!

I prefer to stay with Catia :D

I had used it 2 years ago for these tests: https://www.econologie.com/forums/comparatif ... t4009.html

I'm going to reinstall it because we have a PV solar carport project at the moment :)

For the building, it's nice, you just don't have to go out and ask it to come out with a nice plan from 3D modeling like under Catia ... Good luck for the carport.

Follow it ... thin I can no longer find (if possible) how to enter numerical dimensions to the dimensions of an object ... :?:

Example: how to make a rectangle of 5.00 m by 4.00 m without having to take the head with the approximation with the mouse?

Edit: I found, during creation do not use the mouse and enter the dimensions separated by a;

There is a dialog box, during the editing of the object, we type the desired distance:

5 => 5 meter line
5; 4 => rectangle of 5x4 meters.

And do not forget to make groups when we have finished extruding a pole for example, history not to have objects that cross too often ...

Personally I work in cm, it all depends on what we want.

Same, I also put myself in cm! Uh and after? What if we made a mistake in creation?

How to modify a dimension in a "digital" way? Without going through the change of scale?

Example: I want to pass my carport post (extruded rectangle) from 14 cm side to 16 cm?

It's possible?

ps: what you call group is a "component"?

Well it was a mess but I managed to do something almost understandable (er cars is a sketchup model eh):

ps: I really have a concern for understanding with the groupings, it works 1 time out of 2 and with certain extrusions never! ... Could you brief me on this please?

This is good for troubleshooting sketchup but if you want to do specific more "professional" things, it seems to me 1 bit fair (and the display bug quite a bit at home ... however I have a very widespread CG Nvidia 8800) ...
