Tracking and reporting keywords on forums

by Christophe » 30/06/08, 15:28

Last week Maloche me (by phone for the curious), quite rightly, blew the idea of having keyword tracking on them forums.

So when a keyword is typed in a subject (your nickname for example), you would receive a notification by email.

It can be very interesting to follow the subjects that interest you the most.

After some research, this does not seem to exist directly but I just realized that it would normally (I am testing) perfectly possible to use the Google alerts for this: http://www.google.fr/alerts/

Advantage: configurable independently of the econology site (server less used as much in resource as in sending email)

Disadvantage: requires the creation of a Gmail account ... which will put off certain I agree but too bad ...

To use it it's very simple, just create an alert of this type:
Image

Searched terms: "site: econologie.com/forums/ keyword"

Type: WEB

Frequency: it depends on your addiction to forums :).
The possible choices are: instant, 1 x per day or 1 x per week. Personally I take either snapshots or days depending on the keyword.

Result:

Any alert can obviously be deleted or modified.

It was not for me in fact, it was for my parents that I asked.
But I gave a little doc to my father, in particular your pdf and also on the blue flame burners buderus so that he got an idea.

I'll talk to him about it when I see it.

For gas, with them there is no. I'll give them info about PACs too.

Anyway, I don't think they will change before this winter. Must see in 2009.

Say toff

do the alerts as you entered them work?

I doubt that site: econologie.com/forum etc works
in any case, I did not receive any alert ...

Do alerts go only through Gmail?
