Instructions for recording MPs to your computer

by gegyx » 24/02/13, 18:27

.
.
My MP box is full.

Is there a quick way to save "received messages", then "sent messages", to your personal hard drive?

I selected a sent PM page, then clicked on "save selection"

Result I find myself with a page on 2 (the most recent) which is found in "archives"

And in the “sent messages” box, there is nothing left.
So my 2nd page (the oldest) sank into a bottomless trash can.

It is not serious ! :D

But what is the right procedure to repatriate your MP to your hard drive?

This should be done by a file sent, to his email normally?

Hi gegyx!

You can use the mouse to take the entire text which turns blue and use the right mouse button to copy the text to a file in Word, Microsoft Office, Wordpad or Notepad.

Yes thanks.
:D
That's what I was doing until then, but it's downright tedious.
Is there a more direct method as there is on others forums?

Otherwise, what is the "archives" function for?

No there is no such function here.

You must already have a lot of MP for a save non automatic is tedious!

The archive section prevents the automatic deletion of old messages ...

We can raise the current limit on the other hand if that interests you?

OK, thanks ! So no easy procedure for saving

Precisely, it would not be the automatic backup! It is above all to recopy the messages in a text file which is fadtidious.

From what I seem to understand from reading you:
The old MPs would be deleted? Due to their age or their number.
For my part the box is 102% full

So the archive function would just be one more buffer?

In my case, the archive has recovered every second page and the other is in the works.

Oops I forgot the "not automatic" (but you will have rectified) ...

The box can contain X ko ... after that it is erased automatically.

I can raise the limit X ...

in other forum phpbb there is an export button
Image

we have the choice of 3 formats csv, csv special exel, xml: it makes text files easy to read

this allows you to download all the messages of an entire page of the mailbox, to store them wherever you want on your hard drive and then erase everything in the memory of the forum

it is a function that exists! it doesn't cost anything to activate it

it is not this kind of detail that will attract new participants ... it's more the kind of detail that makes you stay when you are happy with the organization ... otherwise it makes an impression of forum who talks about remaking the world and who does not even know how to organize at home what works everywhere else

message to be deleted when the exported function is activated ... because the goal is not to clutter up with crying office messages

Mwoué, it's not to say but it becomes critical there ...

Even the archive folder is FULL ..

Raising the "X limit" that would do well ... Thank you 8)

I increased the limit from 50 to 200 messages. That should be enough I guess ...
