Incredible ..... solid water!

by elephant » 04/08/12, 16:40

A Mexican researcher (sorry, a finder) has found a solution to "gel" water at ordinary temperature, with great prospects for agriculture in desert countries.

By working on the recovery of rainwater, says Sergio Rico at Point.fr, we have found a way to solidify it to give it another value. I was inspired by baby diapers that absorb a liquid in a minimum of space, and it was from there that I had the idea to transform the rainwater by keeping it in form molecular in a highly absorbent acrylate whose characteristic is to store up to 500 times its weight in water without modifying the chemical structure.

Rainwater, collected from roofs, is channeled to a reservoir in which it is sufficient to pour a dose of 1,5 gram of potassium polyacrylate for 1 liter of water. In 15 minutes, we witness the process of solidification of the water. This results in ionization and precipitation that allows water molecules to stick to polymers, giving water in grains, in the solid state. With this process, there is no need for pumps, pipes, electric power, tankers to transport the liquid. Solidified water can be put in plastic bags that can be easily stored until needed.

And I dreamed of freeze-dried water ..... :D so practical when traveling: you dissolve a pellet of water in a glass of water, and hp a glass of fresh water ready for use. :D Once again, reality goes beyond fiction

We use this process to remove the moisture at the plant where I work but I ask myself the question on how to get this water because a great energy is needed to heat the water solidified and then recondenser.

At least thirty years ago, an Israeli company was already marketing a powder that could form a jelly in the presence of water. Its use was also agricultural.

The new formulation seems both significantly more powerful and more sustainable ...

It is of the same ilk as Panoramix who had invented the essential complement to soup powder, ie soup tureen. You put water in the bag and you have the tureen, great no? : Mrgreen:

No, we must read again, it seems that we understand that it is "dehydrated" alone, since when it rains, it is able to "rehydrate" probably by capillarity.

Here a video that shows how this gel looks:
(which would consist of mini-balls of water)

Apparently, it would be enough to mix the powder with the ground, then to do a watering, and it would hold 3 months!

Amazing! : Shock: Just awesome.

Last year, I put some in my flower pots. The goal was that the land does not dry up too fast.
So, I put this thing without worrying too much about the instructions.
It was style, come on, still a little ..
As a result, when I watered, this product was so swollen that it overflowed pots of flowers.
My wife killed me, and the product is banned at home ...

In agriculture / horticulture, this type of water retainer is already old (I heard about it about thirty years ago; this has been common for well 10 or 15 years: planting in arid areas as a water reserve "starter"; "watering" green plants at home - for the holidays ...

Maybe the present substance is more effective? But we must also see the cost?

View: http://www.biotanic-culture.com/product ... product=24

or: http://www.ionic-france.fr/produits/retenteurs-eau.php

or: http://www.puteaux-sa.fr/795rehum.htm

Etc. ..

I do not understand that we are doing "sensationalism" with something so banal, presented in such a "miraculous" way. It's in the spirit of the media era ...

For plants, the principle is simple:

- the substance retains water, enough so that the "gel" can be transported without the water flowing

- but not enough for plants: the roots of plants have a sucking force, which depends on the plant ...

So no miracle!

Sorry, I answered by starting from the top. I had not read your testimony yet.

To avoid your wife's cries: you wet the retainer before putting it on, so it occupies the "maximum" place! In addition, you will please the plants by preventing the dry product from "stealing" the water from the plants while waiting for watering or rain!
