Politicians and industrialists are definitely having trouble keeping pace. Convinced of defending the European automobile industry, several parties competing in the European elections have written in black and white in their program their intention to cancel one of the flagship decisions of the previous legislature: the end of sales of new thermal cars in 2035 voted in February 2023 after a proposal from the European Commission in July 2021.
This is the case of the list represented by Jordan Bardella and that of Marion Maréchal. During a debate organized by the TDIE think tank, Philippe Olivier, RN MEP, remembered the historic vote of Parliament. “It was a total aberration.
