Running with oil tempts me, but it involves a lot of changes, and using a very old vehicle, I'm afraid to continue with my reliability / maintenance / security problems, however rolling in oil turns me on, anyway what do you think?
If you have good knowledge or a good mechanic with the possibility of easily obtaining parts, why not. In use, the finish of the Mercedes, it gives what ... (all the old merco that I saw had smashed seats, door panels and dashboards that fell into disrepair, not to mention the corrosion).
yannko wrote:Next possibility, normally this Saturday I will try a Citroen Saxo electric in excellent condition, with batteries, offered at 7000 Euros (I intend to negotiate the price if it is interesting). Same thing, it's adventure if I decide to take this vehicle, but I am ready to make sacrifices (autonomy, speed, space) for the benefits it provides (philosophy, price and pollution). Do you have any recommendations in this regard?
It is very delicate to buy a VE PSA like the Saxo, because the main one cannot be seen (the state of the batteries, the engine and the electronics).
Finally, in the event of a breakdown, I doubt that in Prague you can have it repaired during the day as I am lucky to be able to do because the European specialist in VE PSA is next to my job. Despite this, I am over-motivated (more vehicles than drivers in the family) in case one of our vehicles is broken down ... (a habit of lovers of vintage cars).
Riding an electric Saxo is an adventure far greater than riding a Merco 300D ...
The maintenance of the saxo requires special skills and its frequency is every 4000km (filling the batteries with a specific electronic unit + control of the motor brushes). Finally, the use requires a lot of sweetness if you want a reliable vehicle (it is already an ancestor in its category).
In short, even if the electric Saxo, AX, 106 and Berlingo are the most reliable EVs, I do not recommend getting started on a whim.:?

Amazing, especially since the warranty for the entire hybrid system is 8 years / 160000 km at Honda as at Toyota.

good evening everyone : Cheesy: !

Little account of my test of the Saxo élec this afternoon, I buy : Mrgreen: !

In summary, I really appreciated the kindness and the professionalism of the seller, the perfect condition of the vehicle, and the quality of the visit, I detail ...

The car is in a more than nickel condition (no scratches as much inside as outside), no trace of rust, the batteries seem really ok, maintenance done regularly according to the documents and the seller who seems very honest, I intentionally asked what maintenance was to be done, he told me about himself the launching every 5000 km, and the rest at Citroën preferably (brushes, brakes, etc. ..), so here is the little test successfully passed : Mrgreen: !

The plug it has is a three-phase (the connectors - quality pro - me seemed really robust : Shock: ), it is a 2 places (super the size of the trunk :D !), the webasto is here, in short no bad surprise! A plus, he installed an LED card with direct display of the status of each battery in real time : Shock: super frankly!

The surprise, he bought the Saxo in Orleans, where I come from : Shock: : Shock:, I specify that the test takes place in the east of the Czech Republic, on the edge of Slovakia, near Zlin!

Make way for the test drive, and there is the foot : Mrgreen: ! The silence, the absence of exhaust gas, the possibility of speaking with a passenger in a normal way, without stressing howling to cover the sound of the engine .... which is excited at 6000 revs, very satisfactory times, the pleasure of not burning fuel at idle : Shock:, the battery indicator which does not go down quickly at all : Shock: !

We are doing a circuit of around 15 km around the village, on arrival there will be 93% battery on the meter : Shock:, even by pushing the econometer in the red quite often! On the program, city, a bit of departmental, a bit of "national" (in local equivalence ...), quite representative what, I appreciate the duration of the test, and the fact that it is really complete!

Saxo runs out of fuel for Webasto : Mrgreen:, nobody has money to put a few liters of this s ....... e of fossil fuel : Mrgreen: in order to test, it does not matter, we will do without it, I believe quite willingly that it works well!

The seller is curled up in the trunk for the duration of the test to allow me and my girlfriend to better assess the car : Shock: never seen that in my life!

Sorry but the 107 looks pale next door and frankly forgotten :? ! The approval is at the top, a Superb TDI follows us long enough on the way before overtaking us, apparently intrigued by the small car which is not at all ridiculous and original!

I drove a bit of everything honestly (Audi Q7 3.0 TDI for 30 km : Oops: , Audi A3 1.9 TDI, Toyota Yaris, Peugeot 107, Renault 19, Citroën AX and Saxo 1.5 D, and Xantia 1.9 D), and this electric car really excites me and surprises me!

Back, discussion for a good half hour with the gentleman, he kept all the original documents, and, above all, the necessary contacts, association, spare parts, insurance for 3 times nothing, terminals in everything the country, etc ...

I admit frankly I am seduced, I am ready to take the step, the philosophy, the originality of the choice, the tranquility and relaxation of driving (if I dare say it : Lol: ), in short, give me your opinion, but frankly I would like to drive electric!

Hi Yannko,

For Webasto, I have one and I am very happy with it. It defrosts quickly, even faster than a cold heat engine (which takes a long time to warm up). Consumes little: I put 8L in November, still no gauge light ... And I drove all winter with my Berlingomoreen ...

Essentially, if I were you, I would keep the Renault 19, making it make less km (only for your long journeys). You will see, even a little tired, it will drag you far away. Drop the fuel to injection conversion, there is little to gain (1 to 2L / 100km), prefer an eco-driving :P

And I would buy a VE Nickel ........... Er ..... and also Cadmium : Cheesy:

But beware, as said Citrus, you will have to troubleshoot / maintain the vehicle alone ... But I think that in Prague or in France, this will ultimately make little difference on the VE PSA of the 2000s. :?

Aaaah Raymond :D , thank you for your reaction, we have many tastes in common, the 19, the VE, ... :P

I admit, I would like to keep my titine, but my father told me that he would make me face if I continued to ride with it since a piece of amorto spring became the trunk :| , but hey, it is repaired, no, isn't it death?

In fact, I make 6,8 to 7 L / 100 km on average in town / peripheral, 50 km per day at work, very common traffic jams and slowdowns, is it correct or not for a double body fuel?

It's true that we have the same automotive tastes :D

For the shock absorber, change it, even if you can, do both of the axle concerned.

For your consumption, this is completely correct. For a use like yours, I think I would run at 6,5L / 100 km. An injection is good, but driving style is crucial.

You have several important factors of overconsumption, regardless of the type of fuel supply:
1) cold start and short trip (<25km)
2) congested urban route

this disappears completely with the VE. And your 50 km / day is no problem with the range of the EV (> 70 km in normal driving).

Citrus will be able to confirm you because it rolls in 106.

Anecdotally, the radio is really pleasant to listen to in EV: the music in particular sounds much better. Great in traffic! 8)

Rhhhaaaaa stop you already make me want to go to work in EV : Lol: !

No it's true, the HP of the 19 (original, 1989 !!!) are so rotten that when I brake, the sound stops : Lol: !

It is true that I make fairly short journeys, but at the same time, I am always surprised, after 10 minutes big max, the LDR is already at temperature, and the oil is already warm I think (hello the yield of the motor... :| ).

The seller set up a Sony station in the Saxo, I feel that it will fart well :D, and most of all I'm going to give a damn about the mouths of the guys who line up with their diesel 4x4 to do 10 terminals every day : Mrgreen: !

No more seriously, without being sarcastic, for my use, it's ZE solution (the bus which is 15 minutes late, no stop really close, shift work in the morning or in the evening, so it's ideal!) .

If you have an electrified parking lot at home and a simple parking lot at your work, that's OK.

VE unfortunately does not solve traffic jams or parking needs; but it would eliminate noise pollution and part of the gaseous pollution of built-up areas by being generalized.

As far as I can remember, a properly tuned fuel is more economical than an injection with equal performance. In particular, Peugeot injected very early and it was rather chasms.
I think the vaporization of a fuel is finer. I remember a 4L in the 70s which was 6L with a really minimalist fuel, or in the 80s a Ford Escort 1.6 90CV to 6.5L with a double Weber body.
At the time Peugeot was doing stratified combustion studies, which were completely abandoned when the catalysts became compulsory.
All that to say that ultimately your R19 does not pollute much more than a current car of the same category. It simply stinks more and if its emissions are more harmful while being naturally oxidized, it is very temporary.
