Frying oils and fuel oil, a validated association.
This fuel provides high boiler efficiency, limits fouling and reduces pollutant emissions.
Nancy's agro-industrial platform, Prabil, a university research organization, validated this spring the thermal recycling of used French fries oils: the Mixoil from the company Ecogras.
With technical assistance from Dalkia, the fuel was adapted to an oil-fired boiler. A pretreatment of the oil was necessary to improve its "pumpability" it was filtered to remove particles liable to clog the prefilter or damage the burner pump, 3 kg of particles were removed from 5000L of crude oil.
Measuring the viscosity of the oil as a function of the temperature made it possible to choose the preheating temperature of the filtered oil. Oil / fuel mixtures are stable over time if they are stored above 40 ° C. Below there is a risk of partial crystallization. The burner has also been modified to adapt to bio-fuel: mounting of oil resistant seals, sealing of the connections redone with a high temperature sealant, addition of a heater between the pump and the spray nozzles in the fireplace.
The article dates from the end of 2003, almost 5 years after this experiment, what about the Mixoil?
