How to seal a pond, basin or pond without an EPDM cover?

by Christophe » 04/06/23, 10:40

As it's fashionable and I'm a big jerk, I also want my pool of big selfish all to myself!!! : Mrgreen: : Mrgreen: : Mrgreen:

Good without laughing, I would like to make a mini pond of a few m² to improve the biodiversity of my garden... only here, despite the clay aspect of the earth and mud (and the presence of 5 ponds within a radius of 500m, one of which is not fed at all... the others are but with entrance / exit) , the water ends up getting the hell out (4 to 5 hours when it is full, that is to say that it touches the inclined edges, about 20 cm high)...

In short, for the moment it is not too waterproof... So the easy solution is to fuck an EPDM tarpaulin... I don't want it...

Wouldn't there be a "natural" product to seal a pool? Clay sold by the m3? I think it's the right solution but how many cm would you need?

After 2 or 3 fillings and 2 hours of earthworks, this is what it looks like:

It doesn't really (or very little) talk about sealing with "natural" materials, but there are a lot of other tips.

I plan to transform my swimming pool into a natural basin for biodiversity as well. As it is on three levels (0.5m deep, 1m and 1.80m for 70 cubic meters), I intend to use the first two as a lagoon, the filter outlet being located in the one meter deep part.

Clay and bentonite require much more handling and the pond must not dry out, at the risk of losing its watertightness, as happened in the video.

We are waiting for the opinion of our world specialist that we have Obentonite on the subject...

PS: type "Obamot bentonite" in the search engine to find out more.
