Boiler wood stove

by phil59 » 29/11/22, 00:02

I put here my installation of a boiler stove, 16 kW in total, 8.5 in the air, and 7.5 in the water, installation made in 2018, and still very functional, which comes in addition to a gas boiler, and possibly a heat pump (currently broken down).

I had taken it on Amazon, delivered to 1500€ approximately.

Why a wood stove, and not pellet?

In the event of a glitch, you can always cut down a tree, and heat yourself, in my configuration, it takes a little juice for the circulator, but easy to produce yourself.

Why add a means of heating in addition to gas?

Large house, large volume, more than 1000m3 (1200, let's say). Old house, insulated, (1 room remains to be finished), 100 glass wool between the floors, and I believe 240 in the attic, double-glazed window, with gas... Here is the biggest for the inventory. .. ceiling at 3-3.20m high.

In 2003, when I bought it, and heating everything very well, it was 5-6000€, so it was impossible to support the "diet", or else, put myself on a diet! : Lol: : Lol:

By heating more reasonably, it's 3000€ of gas, and at the time 1000€ of "oil".

There, now, by heating well, it's about 2000€ of gas (it was less, but it won't last!), and 1000-1500€ of wood a year.

The old gas boiler, 52 kWh was replaced by an old chilly, 23 kWh.

The buffer tank, in configuration with boiler, a 500L, or without boiler, 100L.

Currently, the boiler runs very little at night, and a little in the morning, the time to put the stove in "service", and I feed 12-15 kW of radiator, in the main rooms, with that, and the bathroom. stay, where it is, but only to air ( 8.5 kW) it.

The disadvantage of wood is to supply wood very regularly, "it's heavy", there are ashes, etc.

It all comes together very well, no problem.

My heating installation, excluding the boiler and the wood stove, is in PER.

A total of 27 radiators, for about 32 kW in total. (about).

I have an expansion tank on the boiler, one on the stove, 1 on the "general radiator outlets", and 1 on the tank (not big enough, but with 4 in total it's good).

Generally, we retain 10% of the volume in circulation, to give an idea.

There is a safety valve on the wood stove, which empties part of the hot circuit, to replace it with cold water, in the event of a problem, this is essential, to avoid disasters.

Here's the big one...

Different things to do a bit of piloting, including via the internet...

Haven't had time to put myself in the rapsberry yet, even if at work I installed workstations with PI4 ....

With the basic options, via the th10, you can order a part, but we can also create scenarios.

So to control the ignition of the boiler, for when the stove stops, or does not heat enough, or the buffer tank is too low, I use a Son0ff TH box, wifi box, with a probe at the place where i want to measure the tp.

There are several possible methods, currently, the 500L balloon not being connected, I made it simple....

Following time slots, I defined min and max tp, to trigger and stop the boiler. The box is connected in place of the thermostat.

All this is done from anywhere, provided you have the internet....

Automatic takes precedence over hour programs.

We could put an outside probe, and create a scenario, which according to the outside tp, will give other slices of tp, to trigger the boiler.

Currently, with outside tp between 3 and 0°, and feelings between -6 and -2, the stove is not enough, the boiler is triggered, with a parameter, like, as soon as tp < 40°, boiler 43°, stopped.

In my installation, up to 5°, just, from 8°, it's kool.
