Renovation and aerodynamic improvement of a BPW closed trailer
Re: Renovation and aerodynamic improvement of a BPW closed trailer
Perhaps tilt the plate location a little more vertically, with an inflection point thanks to 2 small square reinforcements that you have left...

Re: Renovation and aerodynamic improvement of a BPW closed trailer
In the current curvature I think it goes smoothly... however if I do the S I'm not sure I can straighten the sheet metal and aerodynamically it will probably cancel the benefit... I'll still do some tests...

Re: Renovation and aerodynamic improvement of a BPW closed trailer
I thought of putting the reinforcements, just ~15cm before the end by making a slight angle to your sheet, so that it arrives almost vertical, for the plate and the lights.
If necessary, if the sheet is already fixed at the bottom, play around by shortening the intermediate reinforcement.
A cut with a thin disc saw, at the level of its weld and resolder it lower.
But if the sheet is already riveted on the transverse, you can on the half, not completely cut the square, in order to make an angle to your intermediate square and to weld when the curvature satisfies you.
We always get there.
But takes time and loving it.

Re: Renovation and aerodynamic improvement of a BPW closed trailer
I intended to put the ramp of lights on the aluminum sheet at the very end.
I still have to look at the legislative standards for the inclination of the lights / plates... in my opinion there is a slight tolerance...
Good for variable geometry it's dead, it "grows" (in both senses of the word ) way too high...and the S is rather insignificant!

Er...Do I really need to answer this question given the time already spent on this project?
Yes, everything that is soldered can be unsoldered (= being cut! )

Re: Renovation and aerodynamic improvement of a BPW closed trailer
Why an S? it's eating up the length of sheet metal for nothing.
First provide a vertical plane at the end, where the sheet will be bent and make a slight sharp angle with the curve, and then do what is necessary for the curve.
If your fixed plate is still too short, you can, as a last resort, move the rear horizontal support back.
(for resoldering, either you position inside the cut square, another 2cm square that fits inside, at the level of the weld, or a reinforcing bracket on top.)
But at home, it's raining, so... relax, I'm working inside

There is no text for the height and position of the front plates, just recommendations, on the other hand the rear plates must be at 300mm from the ground minimum and 1200mm maximum (some vehicles obtain exemptions), be visible at an angle of 15° from above or below

Ah I had forgotten this parameter: 15° is fine I think...
I'll print out these law texts in case the cops have memory lapses...

As specified. These are the European directives of 2017 I believe, which had to be ratified by a text in the slave countries, quickly.
Except these recommendations are not in the legislation…
You will tell the cop that he finds you the text on the official newspaper.

Flute! it's not complicated to twist the last 15 cm of the sheet, and vertically, to place the plate and lights!
If you leave it as it is, the wind will go along the sheet metal and hit the dying lights
If they were evaded by your vertical descent, it would not be the case, it seems to me.

Yes or two triangular pieces of rubber (or plastic, or wood) "at the right angle" to straighten and fix everything... wheel chock style.
