It's true, but the efficiency of consumption/energy recharged in the batteries is worse.

Example for my TM3:
- At 8A, I recharge at 11 km/h
- At 10A, I recharge 15 km/h
- At 13A, I recharge 20-21 km/h

We therefore see roughly the basic consumption of the charging electronics which is not negligible at 8A and is less so at 13A
From memory, I believe this is 300W + % amperage

As I have already said in the previous pages, a charging EV consumes 300-400W for its electronics.

But a triplet charges a maximum of 3.5 kW in AC, and 40-50 kW, in DC, in chademo.

My ion CRO, and capable up to 16A, but the AC on-board charger only takes 14A max....

The kona can fire up to 11 kW, three-phase.

There remains the case of people who have neither a parking space nor the possibility of recharging at the workplace. In this case I think the realistic solution is the high-power charging station, with reduced-price subscription formulas for regular users. The equivalent of the current gas station, but longer.

The terminal of a few kW on the public highway, frankly I do not see a future for it.

That's not my opinion at all....

Far be it from me to create a controversy! Maybe I'm projecting myself too far, because in the immediate future only people with a simple personal charging solution are buying electricity.
To follow the evolution of the number of public charging points, there is this document, which seems to appear every month.

It is rare that I advise against, depending on the use, the EV, but when there is no possibility of easy charging at home, I do not encourage the EV, and as long as we cannot simply charge daily, I think, that currently, it is better to be forgotten, but it is ME who says.

So yesterday....

Left in the morning with only 55-60% charge, to do a little over 400 km, on the motorway, while driving, when it was authorized, at 135 km/h on cruise control, to do 131-132 km.h, on Waze.

Then 80 km to return home, on national. That is about 500 km.

And then, left again in the evening, to go non-WE, 170 k from the house, and left with only 50 km of autonomy remaining.

More than 650 km, yesterday, in VE.

Well, yes, it is possible, and without pb.

A few people on the IONITY charger in Saint Witz, above Paris, 6 terminals, NL, UK, and me, the only Frenchman to charge....

The French, are they less or more stupid than the others ????

There was a lot of traffic, sometimes 5-10 minutes of waiting before being able to load, for some, but it was still quite honest, but we must admit that on the way back, it was around 13 p.m., and lunch.. .

At MANs, as much as the Tesla terminals at Auchan, it's 80% full, than the others (18 I think), 1 km away, with me, only 4 cars in charge.

As I said on another post, or this one, driving at 130, you do an average of 115 km/h, +- (work, traffic, etc.)....

Another one who doesn't know that we can't drive an EV...

I finally took the time to calculate the cost of my roadtrip in Norway.
To do the 10km (nearly 000km Pouffe de rire) it will have cost me exactly 1€515, or just over 70€/5km, which I find reasonable. This includes a majority of SUC (100€443 in 51 charges) a few quick recharges on third-party networks, a few nights of camping (39 paid by package and 2 with a 1kW terminal connected via plugpay) and little "wild" charging free (7.3 nights in total but at 3A max so as not to blow up the airbnb Very Happy)

To consider :
- price that I find reasonable knowing that all the fast terminals used were paid by kWh and never by time spent
- a consumption of 12.7kWh/100 which helps to have a reasonable bill
- a really very random SUC price depending on the zones and countries, it went from 58cts/kWh at worst in Germany to only 31cts/kWh on the northernmost Norwegian terminals, on the way back I even got into the game of link SUCs at a preferential rate and squizz the others.
- I had taken the lead managed all my routes via abrp and in the end I never looked at the roadbook and I trusted the Tesla planner completely, which I found to be precise and formidable efficiency, there is not even if Tesla loses its advantage of the appointed superchargers it will always remain this planner worthy of a Swiss clock.

Another one who doesn't know that you can't drive long distances in an EV...

From department 77, to Portugal, I took Nemours, quite low in 77, and high in Portugal, which is still about 1500 km....

But when we don't know we can't, well.... we do it! : Mrgreen:

I hadn't seen it, he talks about it again:

About 10 cents per kWh.

When you sleep there, you have time....
