Coronaviruses survive in drinking water for more than 100 days ...

How to stay healthy and prevent risks and consequences on your health and public health. occupational disease, industrial risks (asbestos, air pollution, electromagnetic waves ...), company risk (workplace stress, overuse of drugs ...) and individual (tobacco, alcohol ...).

Ah ah better and better !!!

I didn't know we kept shit for more than 1 year! : Mrgreen: : Mrgreen: : Mrgreen: Finally since Raoult taught me that the fecal transplant had saved tens of thousands of people I am no longer surprised by anything about poop !! : Mrgreen: : Mrgreen: : Mrgreen:

Not read the study: https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101 ... 20129627v1

The coronavirus already present in Europe in March 2019? Be careful with this study

An excrement sample dated March 12, 2019 was detected positive for SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. But this result does not constitute proof, because it presents an inconsistency and a large margin of error.

In May 2020, epidemiologists uncovered evidence of circulation of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in December 2019, slightly earlier than originally thought. The pathogen finally circulated in France from the beginning of December. Other lines of research evoke an emergence of the coronavirus in China from September 2019, but this theory has not yet been really proven.

At the end of June 2020, scientists from the University of Barcelona published their study, the conclusions of which highlight traces of the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 in sewage samples dated March 2019. If the we believe such results, it would mean that the pathogen causing Covid-19 disease was present in winter 2019. Are such results really credible? What are the limits of their interpretation?

The first index on the necessary prudence to adopt with regard to this study is the following: it has for the moment been published on the Medrxiv site, which hosts exclusively research papers which have not been reread by peers. The study of these Spanish scientists is therefore not yet validated by an independent reading committee. And this is not the only reason which should call for enormous tweezers.

AN EPIDEMIOLOGICAL INCOHERENCE
As we have known for some time now, the coronavirus leaves RNA traces in the feces of infected people. These virus residues are no longer active, but remain partially present. It endures a bit of their genetic code, in short. To trace the origins of SARS-CoV-2, the Spanish epidemiologists behind this study looked at frozen samples of Barcelona's wastewater. These samples run from January 2018 to December 2019. The PCR test revealed positive results for the coronavirus for the sample dated March 12, 2019 - and only for this date, before the end of 2019.

This test is not enough, however, to constitute absolute proof in itself. First, there is an inconsistency in the timing of the data: given the infectivity of this coronavirus, if he had been present in March 2019 in a city like Barcelona, it seems surprising that it did not trigger a significant upsurge in respiratory diseases. "It is nevertheless possible that similar situations could have occurred in several other parts of the world, with the circulation of COVID-19 cases unnoticed in the community", however, argue the authors in their study.

This approach does not satisfy the virologist Claire Crossan. In a paper published on June 28, 2020, she pointed out the inadequacies of the study. "The authors do not cite any reports of a peak in the number of respiratory diseases in the local population after the date of the sample," she notes, for example. And, after reading the said study uploaded to Medrxiv, we must admit that the result is not supported by any particular element other than a single positive PCR test on this single date. The subject remains very, and therefore too brief. However, in addition to epidemiological data which did not validate the presence of the coronavirus at that time, the process of a PCR test may be subject in this context to a margin of error.

Once again you confuse the active virus with the traces of RNA. That said, in fact, these traces allow (possibly) to date the appearance of these.

Ah no it is they who confuse in their title, I wrote my post without having read the full article, done and I edited when you posted ...

These are traces of RNA just enough for the PCR test to react (but when we know that it is 70% reliable with false positives) ... so the title is not good:

The coronavirus already present in Europe in March 2019?

It is sure that it is more seller ...

Anyway, look at the publication ...

I don't understand how you can say that:

But this result does not constitute proof, because it presents an inconsistency and a large margin of error.

... while it is child's play to compare it with the morblous phylogenetic tree!
... if the goal is just to send a message, then yes, the SARS-cov-2 was there in June 2019 in the USA for the purpose of “study” in a P-4 military laboratory towards Washington, if the we believe case studies of infected people!

So in March in an “ancestral” form why not?
