Battery gardening tools
Re: Battery gardening tools
I leave it to specialists to calculate the result of this conversion, but I very much doubt that the power obtained is sufficient to power a somewhat greedy electric motor. It would be better to mount a generator on your mower to get a mobile power source.

Yes provided you do not exceed the amperage of the alternator ... The battery of a riding mower with a low capacity similar to that of a motorcycle (15 Ah big max) ... it can make a small buffer to preserve the alternator but that's it, otherwise you risk to burn your alternator or rectifier ...
I think that the power (necessarily reduced on a riding mower) of the alternator must be between 200 and 400W max (or in amps: 17A to 33A) ...
You will also have to take into account the efficiency of the converter (85%) ...
In the end I think it is illusory to hope to exceed 500W, to check with the real power of your alternator.

Re: Battery gardening tools
to see the advertising range battery stihl ... it's as if it was done ... the bartack of the battery has the same effect as the fingertip of josephine guardian angel

Ah but that's why at home it does not happen instantly alone!
I should have chosen stihl ...

What's stupid about lawnmowers is that there is no PTO to just couple the generator (not a group that includes engine + generator).
I do not know if the "mower" part is still used, otherwise a "medium" handyman can consider adapting a pulley on the central shaft - the one on which the blade is normally fixed - and with some reduction calculations and a stabilized engine speed - this is usually adjusted - directly produce 220 V alternating current by attaching a generator to the side, vertically, at the appropriate power (and making sure that it turns at 3 rpm) [ see the side of very small groups whose engine is out of order].

Re: Battery gardening tools
Hello everyone, and sorry A.D. 44 to troll your starting topic on power tools with my question.
Indeed, I thought of this possibility of recovering energy from the central shaft of the self-bearing shown in photo. I always use the cutting deck with the 2 blades for mowing which is quickly removed thanks to 4 pins leaving easy access to the shaft of the central shaft; design a similar system that would allow for a "small" power take-off for ride-on mower seems very wise! (I am also surprised that no one has yet to make this device ... maybe an idea to develop? )
That said, I just recovered a removable hedge trimmer blade from a Multi-function tool (Echo) (*) and I will try to adapt it to the self-range by a gimbal-type transmission system.
Otherwise, the idea of coupling an alternating current generator 220 V (generator) is interesting and would open many possibilities of use of electric tools. Admittedly, we keep the source of origin in thermal but we widen possibilities of tools by the electric one: it is a way of making of hybridization in gardening!
(*) To return to the starting topic (battery powered tools), are there power tools on battery Multifunction?
For the moment, I note that the multi-functionality of electric gardening tools is limited to the portability of the battery from one tool to another, but common motor part with a range of accessories does not seem to be marketed while the concept brings together rather positive opinions.

Yes, it exists, but I have not found in major brands. The reason seems simple: the electric motor is not expensive, so why pool it? In contrast to a powerful 2T engine (which does not pollute too much, laminated combustion, etc.) or worse, a motor 4T all positions.
An interchangeable engine block at Stihl is 400 600 euros.
