the leek germination test which has been transformed into a seedling of germinated seeds is doing very well, the passage from one to the other is done without loss and in the terrine sown in line, the emergence has started
it is therefore encouraging for the "blue Solaise" leeks
on the other hand, unsuccessful searches today for "yellow Poitou" leeks
purchase of a seedling plate with undercutter and mini-greenhouse of 60 holes, to do my onion seedlings, it will be able to start very soon, with 50% yellow then the rest in red
sweet potato cuttings continue, however no news of peas, garlic and shallots, the weather is too rainy to go down to the vegetable garden

Unsuccessful search to buy in store, you mean? Here I have it everywhere.

yes here we find blue Solaise, leek from Carantan, monstrous elbeuf in 4 different brands,
otherwise I have a seed company from the North who sells them, like a few varieties of other vegetables from local varieties, it's interesting and he is in supermarkets the displays not in garden centers, it seems to me
at Gamm Vert I think I will find

Re: My kitchen garden of the least effort
little news from the vegetable garden
the leek seedling is starting to make its first "real" leaf, it is encouraging, I sowed salads but I did not take out the mini greenhouse immediately, it went straight away, luckily I put 2 seeds by cells, we will see what the second will give and how the first outings will evolve
I sowed yellow onions and celeriac, I am waiting for the risings
the sweet potato cuttings continue a little longer and I will have 15 cuttings, I think I will stop there for this year, I will also plant the feet which I was used to have the cuttings by cutting the potato

Hi Moindreffor,
Do you do your seedlings indoors? Or do you have a greenhouse? (my apologies if this is explained in the thread of your journal!).
Thank you for sharing your progress!

I sow indoors, the DIY greenhouse project is underway, but I have an office to finish and the Moindreffor works at the speed of a slug, especially since I caught something to the eye which handicaps me quite a bit, I am super dazzled even inside, small passage here, but I will not abuse the screens

Re: My kitchen garden of the least effort
little news from the vegetable garden
winter garlic planted in spring is well emerged, shallots begin to pierce the hay, on average 6 to 8 out of 12 in each row
a few yellow straw onions sown, harvested last year, kept in bulbils and planted this spring, are also starting to show up.
the peas, in the ground are up but they do not take off, with all these morning frosts, another row in a bucket begins to rise, it will soon be transplanted, a spontaneous emergence of oak leaves is at the same point, that does not freeze but it does not grow, a thinning was carried out and there on the other hand what was transplanted in cup develops a little better
the leek in a terrine also outside does not take off, but then you have to hang around so don't worry, on the other hand I had left un transplanted young leeks from last year in the gauge, but if we are in year 2 for them will try a transplanting, who knows, they may not have seen them spend the winter since they are still at the stage of transplanting
I may have started sowing tomatoes late, I'm messing around quite a bit at this level, I hope to succeed in a few plants all the same, we'll see this week will be decisive, I'm trying a germinated seed technique
I still have some store-bought yellow and red onions planted last week to see coming
and eggplant and pepper seedlings, which are very late but well ahead of last year
and a last try of autumn leek and endive, but this is really not terrible, it will be repeated this week too
I finished the cuttings of my 15 sweet potato plants, I'm going to start the one for my cousin, who just sent me his catalog of tomato plants for 2021, he "missed" 2 varieties like what, even one specialist can get through it, very few plants compared to usual, that's why I remain cautious about my success
in project, seedlings of carrots, salads, beets, I leave the cabbages for the beginning of July, and renew a seedling of celeriac, but I have little hope that it must be something of the kind like parsley, So here I'm going to be super hyper late but it will be an experience for next year

These two points I do not understand? Otherwise I have a lot of similarities here. For a week now, I haven't had any frost in the morning, but it's borderline, and a northerly wind all the time, the peas don't really take off, the snow peas are already bigger, they're getting better. Soon the first beans to eat, but it's the same, very slow development for some time. The garlic and onions are good for the moment, I hope to have some white onions soon, but it's the same, it's still a bit frozen. For the tomatoes, I deliberately took a big week behind last year, it's coming, but very slowly.
In my area there are a lot of people who have frozen potatoes, it's normal, they only looked at the calendar and their beliefs, but not the weather. My potatoes from last year that were too germinated and put under hay at the beginning of February also came out, but under winter cover and forcing tarpaulin, no problem.
As for salads, I'm spoiled, the harvest is abundant, the next generation is already on stand-by.

Celeriac, it will catch up in the fall: you can leave it until the first severe frosts (it "collects" a small precocious hoarfrost and continues to grow). Mine were still ridiculous after summer, since I did not water them. And they finished quite correct when harvested in October / early November. I have the last ones left in our silo (buried trash can). It is typically a strong fall "guard vegetable" when in our systems the rain returns, the soil is warm, the hay mineralizes thoroughly - then, and only then, effortlessly, "explosive growth results. "! Like leeks. Or cabbages (which really explode - crack!). Or carrots (which must be sown successfully!). Or turnips (easy sowing) ...

I bought autumn leeks, but the semi is missed, I screwed up with the potting soil or other, the same for the endives there maybe the seed, so I will renew these two seedlings
and for the celery it has to rise the same so I have to do it again there too, but for them I think it takes a long time to rise, in fact I don't know
