Hello everyone,
I would like to change my insulation in the attic, which is glass wool on a roll with an integrated vapor barrier, and replace it with loose insulation such as hemp, or rock wool, or cellulose wadding?
My question concerns the vapor barrier: is it mandatory to put a vapor barrier, or not, between the loose insulation and the frame?
And what to put as a vapor barrier?
advice on what type of loose-fill insulation to choose?
Thank you in advance.
Vapor barrier for insulation?

Re: vapor barrier for insulation
Not necessary if there is already a waterproof vapor barrier above the ceiling http://www.toutsurlisolation.com/Isolat ... s-murs#pv3

Re: vapor barrier for insulation
Thank you ! ! !
there is no more vapor barrier if I remove the old insulation, it is integrated.
You'll have to add one, then.

Re: vapor barrier for insulation
Difficult to answer without further detail.
If it is lost roof space, a vapor barrier on the floor may rot, so no vapor barrier in this case.

Re: Vapor barrier for insulation?
Currently these are lost attics that I want to make usable.
it's like in this photo except that the glass wool with vapor barrier is above the small beams.
I plan to put the loose insulation between the ceiling and a future floor.
theoretically the vapor barrier should be located above the ceiling, on the bricks but not easy to put one above the plastered bricks, because of the steel support wires and all the wood that holds the ceiling.
can be spread a waterproof product on bricks?
the roof will not necessarily be insulated at first.
