Re: Electric Cars and transport, wire news
These cars were the first electrics satisfying the majority of their users .... There are quite a few on sale with far higher mileage than the one I buy ... The performance is very sufficient for my daily use. .. 130 km of autonomy by having the soft pedal .... Zero has 80 in 8 seconds ... 1 euro 50 of charge at night to make 80km during the day. Possibility of fast charging sometimes for free. Classic charging on all supermarket parking lots .... It's not my usual type of car ... But hey I'll be happy with it ...

The only thing safe in the future. It is that there may chance that it conforms to our expectations ...

Re: Electric Cars and transport, wire news
Tesla (already) dominates the car market in Iceland
Tesla arrived “officially” in Iceland last September and is already leading car sales in the country for the first quarter of 2020.
April 3th
Tesla electric vehicles have been on the roads of Iceland for years. However, the American manufacturer has only been officially present since September last year.
According to Electrek: “Iceland is perfect for the mass adoption of electric vehicles. The island's electricity production is already almost 100% renewable, which makes electric cars super clean, and being a remote island, petrol is very expensive. " These elements all contribute, logically, to the success of Tesla in the country.
Ideal conditions for Tesla
It is also the very geography of Iceland that is perfectly suited to electric mobility. The population is notably grouped in the capital, Reykjavik, which has about 130 inhabitants. With the agglomeration, it groups together practically two thirds of the island's population (000 inhabitants), or approximately 362 inhabitants. Residents who therefore generally have short distances to cover with their vehicle, an ideal configuration for the massive adoption of electric cars.
Since arriving in September 2019, Tesla has obviously exploded the sales counter in Iceland. For the first quarter of 2020, Tesla sold a total of 415 vehicles, more than brands like Toyota or Volkswagen. In total, electric cars represent 31,7% of sales for the first quarter of 2020. Taking into account PHEV and BEV vehicles, this rate climbs to 57,6%.
Remember that the first Tesla deliveries started just a few weeks ago in Iceland, and the country should welcome many Model 3, Model S and Model X in the coming weeks. Tesla is also planning to offer new Supercharger stations in the country, to optimize user comfort. Remember that Iceland is also among the top 10 countries that have expressed an interest in the Tesla Cybertruck, since the country would be in tenth position, just behind ... France!

Thanks for the info. The situation is indeed ideal for EV (not only for Tesla).

I have a little trouble: Reykjavik is good for EVs with 40 km of autonomy (I caricature, but the whole city is run on horseback - there are tracks reserved for horses for that). So an EV with 400 km of autonomy, what is it for in Iceland?
As soon as you leave Reykjavik, it is the great human desert. The wind is blowing hard: the wind panels on the road are in meters per second . At first we do not pay attention, but when it is indicated 30 m / s on the light panels it messes up lol.
No: when you leave Reykjavik, it is with a large 4x4, the shovel for snow removal, gasoline on the roof, very warm clothes, etc ...
In Iceland, the Tesla will probably only drive in the city (10 km ...)

Same idea, that in France, reassure people who only travel 50 km per day and are very afraid that with 100 km it does not happen. It's as stupid as that!
In "Canada", at -35 °, there are ions, C0, etc., which have an autonomy of 60-65 km, and which are quite sufficient ... In France with these cars, we are afraid of making 50 km, with tp often greater than 5 ° .... (approximately 100 km of autonomy).

Tesla crosses a new terminal on the stock market
AFP • 02 / 07 / 2020
High-end electric vehicle maker Tesla on Wednesday became the most expensive global automotive company on the stock market, overtaking Toyota, even though Elon Musk's company sells far fewer cars than its Japanese competitor.
Tesla's market value stood at $ 207,7 billion in New York City at the close of Wednesday, more than Toyota's $ 202,5 billion.
The action of the Californian company, listed on the Nasdaq, ended at 1.119,63 dollars (+ 3,69%), a new record.
It will only take Tesla a few months to double its market capitalization which reached $ 100 billion on January 22.

Re: Electric Cars and transport, wire news
We can clearly see that EV sales are growing much faster than thermals, no doubt that premiums have a lot to do with it.
Now with more than 200 km of real autonomy for the majority of EVs, it is becoming more and more interesting.

Except for the people around whom lithium is extracted, for nature and for the fleet reserves that we use up. Aside from that, it's interesting.
