The Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy published on February 4, 2016 a decree relating to the list of fuels authorized in France including ED95.
ED95 is a fuel intended mainly for buses and coaches and for the transport of goods, which contains 95% of bioethanol and 5% of non-petroleum additive. This dedicated fuel makes it possible to benefit from all the advantages of bioethanol in suitable compression-ignition engines.
Reduce the environmental footprint of public transport
ED95 is a fuel which makes it possible to reduce CO50 emissions by more than 2% compared to diesel thanks to the renewable nature of bioethanol and by more than 70% the number of particulate emissions compared to the limit authorized by the standard. EURO 6.
While local authorities are actively seeking more environmentally friendly solutions to renew their fleets of public transport vehicles, the authorization of the ED95 offers a real alternative immediately available. The Mayor of Paris set an example during COP21 during the “Summit of Local Elected Representatives for the Climate”, by transporting elected officials from all over the world in the “climate bus” built by Scania and equipped with an engine running at the ED95.
A satisfaction from the French bioethanol sector
“We are pleased with the publication of this decree authorizing the new ED95 fuel to make bus and coach transport cleaner. We are ready to support the development of this new market in France, ”said Bruno Hot, president of the SNPAA (National Union of Agricultural Alcohol Producers).
“The authorization in France of ED95, which has existed for a long time in Sweden, opens up new outlets for our agricultural production. We are very satisfied that the French administration allows local authorities to adopt fuels from the biomass that our farmers produce in France "commented Eric Lainé, president of the General Confederation of Beet Planters.
