Electric Buses Exceed Expectations in Reykjavík
Jelena Ciric July 31, 2018
Fourteen electric buses in Reykjavík's public transportation system have exceeded expectations, according to the Strætó's CEO. He told RÚV the company plans to grow their electric fleet in the near future.
Strætó bought 14 electric buses from China recently, the first of which were put to use in April. “This has really gone incredibly well, and nothing unexpected has come up, so we are just really pleased with our experience of these vehicles,” Jóhannes Svavar Rúnarsson, Strætó's CEO, told RÚV. Jóhannes says the buses have been driven between 10-12,000km over the past four months.
The CEO adds that five additional electric buses arrived in the country for the company last Friday. “We are hoping to get them from the importer next week and see them on the street sometime in the beginning of August. Then the rest will hopefully arrive at the end of this year and then that will be a pretty good proportion of the bus fleet, ”he remarked.

Transport: the metropolis of Rennes buys 92 electric buses for 60,5 million euros
AFP published on Sep 24, 2020
Rennes Métropole announced Thursday the acquisition of 92 electric buses from EvoBus France, a subsidiary of the German group Daimler, for an amount of 60,5 million euros.
"33 standard buses and 59 articulated buses will thus be gradually put into service on the Star network, from 2022 to 2025", Rennes Métropole indicated in a press release.
In 2015, the Breton community began renewing its fleet of diesel buses, which should be completed in 2030, with an electric fleet planned inside the ring road and using NGV for the metropolitan lines.
"Until 2020, this commitment took the form of a partnership with Bluebus, which enabled Keolis Rennes to experiment in the field with the technology of its standard electric buses (7 Bluebus in commercial operation on line 12 of the network Star since May 2018) as well as an articulated bus (line C6, start of the 2020 school year) ", specified the metropolis.

Oops ... Electric buses don't like winter ... and it's not because of the batteries ...
Electric buses at the stop in Amiens: "We were not told that they only work in hot countries"
Alain Gest, the president of Amiens Métropole, prefers to be ironic after the shutdown of almost all Nemo electric buses because of the cold snap. This Tuesday, only 6 of the 43 buses were able to run on the Ametis network.
(...)
An incident due to the drop in temperatures, explains Eric Patoux, director of Kéolis Amiens, the company that operates the Ametis network: "The first problem is a heating problem. The heating, which works with a heat pump system, is unable to ramp up. We have a temperature of around 10 ° inside the buses, which is not socially acceptable for our drivers as well as for our passengers. There is a second problem which is related to the gel that has settled in the air bottles that feed the brake system. The system therefore goes into fault and the buses cannot start. We have reassigned buses that run on diesel to make up for the lack of electric Nemos and try to have a passage frequency of between 20 and 30 minutes. We would like to apologize to our travelers for the inconvenience caused. "
(...)
Alain Gest, the president of Amiens Métropole (who has invested more than 40 million euros in these buses), will send a letter to the management of Irizar, the manufacturer. He wishes to summon the managers of the company, based near San Sebastián in the Spanish Basque Country, to obtain an explanation of this failure, which is far from being the first: "When we decided to buy these buses, it was not specified to us that they only operated in hot countries", ironically Alain Gest. For the president of Amiens Métropole, “it is quite simply unacceptable. This is the reason why I am going to send a letter to the management of Irizar to summon them to Amiens. We will then look at what to do with this matter.
