Hello,
the vertical axis wind turbine is on my site, I built it with bicycle wheels yes;
there are 2 series of blades:
those outside are fixed: they receive the wind in all directions
those inside move: the wind having already passed over the profile of the fixed blades, it is all the more strong to pass over the blades which are mobile

clever, but the radius must be important I think, + than a bicycle wheel.

The subject cited is very interesting. Unfortunately the source of the video is invalid. Do you know another source, I would like to see this editing work, and who knows how to try to make it.

Goods.

Lately I've been browsing old topics on wind turbines ... Ha nostalgia when you hold us!

In one of them, a comment caught my attention:

the author of the comment naively asked why the vertical axis wind turbines do not have a fairing on one side to avoid the effect of the headwind on the returning pale? ...

This question bothered me for a while, and suddenly I wondered if a wind turbine of this type could have advantages:

It is sort of a vertical axis wind turbine placed horizontally with a fairing!

The idea of the fairing was not so stupid ... some have taken it up:

I add that the comments left on the site are very interesting, especially since the designer of this wind turbine answers questions.

We learn that the idea of the fairing dates back to ... the 6th century and is called the "Moulin Persan"!

Why a low noise level ?:
3 main reasons which cumulate

1. For obvious reasons, nuclear submarines must be as quiet as possible. Also their propulsion is carried out by two counter-rotating propellers to limit noise and vibrations. The Windtrap simply takes up this concept.

2. The blades operate in a housing. This housing limits the propagation of noise.

3. On conventional wind turbines, noise is mainly generated by the tip of the blades which rotates at very high speed, well beyond the speed of the wind. The WindTrap is one of the “slow” wind turbines (for the torque), the ends of the blades rotate at a speed lower than the wind speed which further reduces the production of noise and vibration.

The function of the casing, called deflector, also allows:
-to make the wind converge towards the useful part of the blades
- to prevent the windward blades from being braked (this concept dates from the 6th century AD, it is known as the Moulin Persan)
- orient the wind turbine in the wind direction for urban use in turbulent wind

The innovation of this product is in the arrangement of the concepts described above.
Concepts that have proven themselves for years, even nearly 2 millennia.

The windtrap is to the river, what conventional wind turbines are to rain.
The windtrap to increase its performance must extract energy once it is concentrated, as the water mill extracts energy from the water of the river and not from the rain. The riverbed concentrates rainwater into a powerful and exploitable force.
In other words, as the dimensions of the WindTrap are perfectly adaptable in height and width, it can be installed in all natural places (or not) or the wind rushes in. (between two buildings well oriented at La Défense, under the piers of a bridge, at the neck of a mountain (therefore on the ground) (the mast is not useful for its operation) and in all places or suitable topography permits .
The Persian mills used the same topographic configuration to recover the concentrated wind, they were only installed in certain valleys

A new profession is to be created "Wind chasers"

The storage of wind energy is not the subject of this competition, but a solution to smooth the production of energy is being studied. It is based on concepts known in Belgium at the start of the 1900 years and used on a prototype created by a German car manufacturer some years ago. This concept adapted to the Windtrap for smoothing the production of wind energy is not yet patented for reasons …… ..

Definitely, really very interesting this concept of streamlined vertical wind turbine.

I really learned and discovered something about Persian mill with this site: http://lezart.free.fr/moulin19.htm

... and this section is fascinating: http://lezart.free.fr/wm_cgen.htm

Hello Grelinette!

New on the site...
not the same direction in my research but whatever.
I'm looking for small, ready-made turbines to connect them //
I visited the site of Mr Gambarota (http://motorwavegroup.com/new/index1.html)
It's expensive: 1000 $ 10 turbines total 1.2 Kwh / day without regulator, with stainless steel frame and aluminum feet (not good, galvanic corrosion).
and without transportation from Hong Kong.

There must be a way to order without the chassis, but above all to find cheaper turbines in France? and make the connection and the chassis yourself.

For the moment I can't find it. Then I will investigate the regulator, the batteries and the inverter.
I do not have adequate space to mount a guyed mast.
Regarding the fairing I saw (and lost the link) many "inventions" to circle the blades on the outside + add a "shell head" on the front of the axle, with an increase in efficiency of 30 or 40%

Any (great) ideas?

Thank you!
