I don't think anything of the photos because they are too huge to see the vehicle ...
They should be resized to the standard of forum...
From home, on my old single-core PC, 4/3 19 "screen, displaying the page is almost impossible ...
Reviews of the Citroen AX diesel?

It was always the thinking of the mechanics: "these small engines are fragile"
Well, 250.000 km are certainly not the limit.
In fact it is the failure of the calorstat (at 15 €) that must be replaced at the slightest sign of heating or preventively after 10 years.
I guess it was about the age of your car (25.000 km / year).
It is once again the incompetent mechanics who are to blame and not a supposed "fragility" of the engines ...
Well, the mechanic is me!
And indeed, I am a bit "minimalist"!
So you have to be a little more careful than with the XUD engine in the ZX !!!
But I don't think it had overheated. That, I would have realized!

Sorry for the criticism of the mechanic ...
For overheating, the ZX is better equipped with indicators and displays than the AX.
It is enough that the first overheating took place with another less attentive driver and the damage ensued.
When the coolant is missing, it is too late, the temperature sensors are dry and no longer indicate overheating.
On the BX, there was a water level sensor in the expansion tank.
this sensor was removed on the ZX and on the AX (but its location remained, so we can add it as I happened to do on some of my Citroën ...
I'm fine talking about breakdowns and mechanics ... I'm like my friends, I too don't succeed every time ...
I have an overheated ZX TD, various electrical problems and I ended up throwing in the towel ...

Ah !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Suddenly, I am less positive that there was no overheating!
I did not have the "steam plume". Nor seeing! That's all !
[I'm a pretty good mechanic, but I think of a car as a "rolling machine" - in short, as long as it rolls, I roll. I have a distinct tendency to forget to open the hood. I have a rather fine "ear", which alerts me to other things ... And my wives, children, etc ... they are worse! Oh well, do we have to do an oil change? ]]

The automobile has entered our lives like a daily item that we forget ...
This is why the manufacturers added maintenance indicators to remind drivers to make revisions ...
A penniless youth and the use of vintage cars taught me enduring reflexes. I go around my vehicles once or several times a month, check the levels, check for leaks, tire pressure ...
Thanks to this I have maintained vehicles which in other hands would have ended their lives much earlier.
I use a minivan that the previous owner intended for scrap, it drives very well, after a major overhaul. All belts, all filters, the calorstat, and the repair of some electrical failures. But there is still work to be done ...
This represented a large invoice for parts, time, but when you buy a vehicle for less than € 100 and the technical control is ok ...
Given the price of the parts of an AX, it will always cost less than a minivan. By cons availability in breakage is becoming scarce ...

young clutch engine and ditsri ok, I think it's worth the price (in the garage the clutch is 500 €, the same distribution), eventually you can start trading at 500 but it's a good car except one point: there should be no accident because it is a pot of yogurt, I paid the price in my youth.
a girlfriend had the same 1.5D on a 106, good reliable engine that goes far and consumes only slab.

Yes, but in these cases, no vehicle can match ...
A friend who managed a large fleet bought hundreds of AXs (diesel, gasoline and electric). He has, of course, had vehicles that have been involved in accidents and some seriously.
The AXs generally went to destruction but the injuries and work stoppage were much less than he had feared.
He considered AXs to be very safe compared to other vehicles of the same generation.
