To have another vision of Venezuela and Chavez that comes out of the Western dominant model there is this documentary:

Many things are explained. Do not forget that Chavez was democratically re-elected and even his competitor did not contest the result.

In reality capitalism and communism lead to the same thing, but not by the same path.

State capitalism for communism* and private capitalism are indeed two facets of the same reality, so there is nothing surprising in this profound convergence.
Convergence which should alert us: if the first model has collapsed, it is not so much the success of the second that proves it, but its fragility!

Going back to the documentary, I wonder where the friend Bob could see the "truth" **?
The story of Chavez is that of an ambitious, power-hungry man who, in order to carve out a place for himself in keeping with his ego, had the cunning to rely on the popular masses to keep out of power the caste of latifundiaries*** who until then shared the oil windfall.
By retroceding part of this rent to the people, Chavez secured its recognition which enabled it to continue to prosper on the theme of "socialist revolution".

Not being fooled by these methods does not imply endorsing the management of those who await their revenge...

*It would be better to speak of "real socialism" than of communism, the latter being the supreme stage, a kind of hypothetical end of history...
**I advise the greatest distrust when this word is used... :D

raymon hello

Chirac was democratically re-elected with 80% of the votes, therefore with those of his historical adversaries. yuck!

I am one of the people who voted Chirac I do not share his ideas it was perhaps a mistake but I assume my choice. Chirac like Chavez are not fachos or dictators. From minute 36 of the doc they make the opponents speak.

Hello Raymon!
You did well to mention this report, much less Manichean than the first!
The defect of all these videos is that the historical, sociological, geo-political background is sloppy, when it is not simply absent...
Images and in-depth analysis are probably two incompatible categories.

As regards the comparison between the circumstances of the election of Chirac and the one at ChavezI am not convinced of its relevance ...

The people in Venezuela continue to suffer: http://www.levif.be/actualite/internati ... 80877.html

In Venezuela, a ton of tickets for a roll of toilet paper (in pictures)
22 / 08 / 18 to 11: 19 - Updated to 16: 02

In Venezuela, the national currency suffered a spectacular devaluation: the bolivar was devalued by 96% against the dollar. Astronomical prices were still asked last week for basic foodstuffs. Examples: a kilo of meat was displayed at 9.500.000 bolivars, for a kilo of carrots, Venezuelans had to spend no less than 3.000.000 bolivars, or even 2.600.000 bolivars for a roll of toilet paper...

ps: according to the photos, 1 ton is exaggerated or else it is with the very small notes (not those in the photo)...

In the case of toilet paper, a slightly adapted (softer) paper money would relieve the Venezuelan people at a lower cost... : Wink:

Good point, thanks for asking! If there are more tickets than paper then you might as well use the tickets directly... : Cheesy: (I translate for those who are not used to Ahmed's thoughts)

It's a bit like fake plastic coins for children... sold for more than their face value... : Shock:

Thank you for your excellent translation! 8)
Obviously, this is not what will remedy all the problems of the population and the consequences are likely to be heavy: we remember the situation in Germany after the First World War and what that generated.. Now, things are not frozen and perhaps an evolution towards a decline in the economy will be observed? Hard to imagine near the American giant...

When peoples are only held back by walls or fences or when they flee massively to take refuge in ghettos in neighboring countries: we can tell what we want, the diagnosis is unstoppable! And philosophers will be able to philosophize. And Mélenchon talk...
