Sarkozy seeks asylum in Canada

IRIB- The information was confirmed on Tuesday in Paris after three searches against the former president were conducted by police officers of the Financial Brigade in connection with the Bettencourt affair.

Nicolas Sarkozy did not attend the searches, since he had left, the day before, "with his family, to Canada," said his lawyer, Thierry Herzog, in a statement. The former president is also facing allegations that he took advantage of illegal arms sales in Pakistan, and that he accepted 50 million euros from former Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi. Sarkozy denies all the accusations.
