The government is proposing to increase electricity rates by 1,9% for individuals starting August 15 and by 2,3% on average, including businesses.
In a statement released Tuesday, the government said it had asked the Energy Regulatory Commission for an opinion.
"The movement thus planned makes it possible to maintain the competitiveness of the electricity consumed in France, for the benefit of businesses and private consumers, who have on average prices 15% to 30% lower than European prices," underline the ministry. of Ecology and that of the Economy in a joint press release.
