With a little luck it will be above the clouds ... you know the "real ones" that we see every day in Belgium
In short it will not change anything in our daily life
Ah if the weend were to be rather "beautiful" ... Well, I can't wait to see that ...

it reminds me of a certain cloud in 1986, that's for sure, it will stop at the French border!
a drop in temperatures may accompany it with this passage, in any case, fewer planes in the sky is already a good thing, even if it is not the panacea in terms of non-pollution.

... alas the passengers only have their flight postponed until later. So that's not what will change much. And then we should see the equivalent carbon and other gases dispersed in the atmosphere by the volcano ... it must make tons of CO2 (human activity would represent only 4 or 5% of the gas in total). There are much more dangerous gases for the greenhouse effect, which we do not talk much about. Like methane.

Volcanoes have a double effect on the climate: they emit "greenhouse" gases (eg carbon dioxide) on the one hand, and "parasol effect" gases on the other hand (sulfur dioxide), which have the effect of "cooling" on a more or less large scale, by reflecting part of the solar radiation, (and then fallout in the form of acid rain!).
This type of event shows us how powerful Nature is in the face of our technology.
Question: does that reassure or worry you?

Good evening
in terms of pollution, I remained imprecise because I did not think that pollution level atmosphere. there is visual and hearing pollution, especially for those living near airports. I remember spending some time in Villeneuve St Georges, near Paris, a town located roughly along the axis of a runway in Orly, during peak periods, it's a plane every 2 or 3 mins, all day.
what happiness for these inhabitants, to be able to finally remain their picture windows open, to be able to discuss without raising the voice, etc ... even if this state of affairs is accompanied by a cloud of dust!
currently residing in Narbonne, this for 17 years, and often visiting Perpignan, the planes landing mostly pass above the Vernet medium because Tramontane being the prevailing wind, part of Perpignan is overflown by planes and at low altitude, we can clearly see the portholes along the fuselage ... and since sometimes the wind is strong enough, some planes catch up several times to land, provided that the cloud reaches the south of France, just for that!

Hi,
Bierset is closed (Liège airport, Belgium).
TNT (freight) has its European headquarters there.
She (TNT) announced that everything that could be trucked ...
So where is the ecological "benefit"?
How many trucks for an airplane?

re Goodnight
the use of aircraft for freight or trucks does not have the same purpose.
it is not at all the same type of air freight and road transport, moreover with between 60 and 70 tonnes approximately by air, 2 to 3 trucks are enough to transport the said freight ... but on condition that it remains at a distance not too far away, with less urgency and speed.
on the other hand, for an energy balance, between an airplane and 3 semi-trailers for an equivalent load, that is discussed!
to see also with its 139000 liters of kerosene in its tanks and its 7400 km traveled, it gives more than 15 l per km ... we are very far from consuming a truck, or even 3 or 4 trucks! (about 40 l / 100 km per unit, i.e. 0.4l per km do the calculation)
on the other hand, profit level, it is the famous TNT company which will make it by spending much less fuel and aircraft maintenance, much more expensive than the maintenance of a truck.
moreover, the planes do not deliver at home, you need trucks (again them) so they will kill two birds with one stone: transport and delivery with the same truck, saving time and human energy.
jeff
ps: then if the trucks are pantonized, no doubt about pollution and consumption, we must immediately abandon air transport because I can't see an airplane pantonized !

With a market load higher than the initial forecasts, the A330-200F offers two different operating configurations depending on the planned mission. The aircraft can carry more than 64 tonnes over a distance of up to 7 km / 400 nm or more than 4 tonnes on non-stop flights of 000 km / 69 nm.

In 1815 an Indonesian volcano (as far as I remember) had caused a cold of duck with famines and been frozen !!
Hopefully this volcano will be less intense and only interfere with planes and not put a big cold on CO2 !!
Long live Google :

In 1600 the Huaynaputina was worse:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huaynaputina
Finally it is very common more than meteorites:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timetable_ ... _eruptions
Finally we are looking for the volcano having released around 1258 from 200 to 800Km3 of ash !!
http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/jour ... 1&SRETRY=0
Too big to leave a trace !!
Hope but considering the possible tsunami risk it is necessary to evacuate all the seaside to less than 10m high, and Xynthia is not the only possible and make provisions of flour for the great cold !!!!

Tidal waves fell on the islands several hundred kilometers away. Volcanic activity directly killed 11 people. To these victims were added those of the tsunamis, famine and epidemics which raged on Sumbawa and Lombok and which killed 000 people. In total, the eruption seems to have killed between 49 and 000 people [61
The eruption affected the oceans and the tropics, and all records of falling temperatures were broken in 1815 and 1816.
This catastrophe was at the origin of "frozen summers":
* the "sunless summer" of 1815 in New England, caused by the blockage of the sun's rays by sulfur particles distributed in the atmosphere and the stratosphere;
* the summer of 1816, the coldest on record in Europe (in countries with reliable weather), was the cause of a famine that killed more than 200 people.
The Swiss Alps were particularly affected, so much so that during the summer 1816, it snowed almost every week.
