The Roberval Prize for Scientific Books

by Christophe » 26/09/08, 14:07

Through Econologie.com I was offered, a few months ago, to be an "expert" (I put "" because in comparison to other experts my CV is a little ridiculous ... but hey ) of a competition on scientific works: the Roberval Prize. After being informed a little I strongly accepted without being certain that I am up to it but it ended up going well!

The ROBERVAL Prize, created in 1986 by the University of Technology of Compiègne, pursues a double objective:

a) Put technology news within the reach of the general French-speaking public, by enabling everyone to understand contemporary developments, and by contributing to reflection on these questions which are essential to the future of our societies.

b) Promote the use of the French language in the production and dissemination of scientific and technical knowledge, in particular by promoting higher education in technology in French, so that our language continues to enrich the vocabulary necessary for the expression of the new concepts that condition our technological, economic and cultural development.

The role of an expert is to give a technical and "literary" opinion (the bases) on a scientific work. I was in the "Higher education books" category.

This morning I have just given my opinions on the 2 works (last deadline 30/09 :D) whose task I was to examine:

I don't think I can make these 2 "expertises" public yet, but I will do so in due course.

Econologie.com should therefore soon appear in the list of "Experts": one more step in the evolution of the site towards the path of scientific recognition and credibility!

ps: here is the list of experts 2007 http://prixroberval.utc.fr/experts.html (look at the "ranks" of other experts)
reps: this explains the fact that I did not do much for a week on the site

Thank you : Oops:

As for the component of common sense you can count on it: I lowered in flames the 1st book which assimilated (almost) biofuel to ethanol since it spoke only 70% of that, the 29% of others are the greenhouse effect, the car and the change in our way of life: it's interesting but nothing to do with biofuels as the title provides!

In addition all the book concerned only ... France ... as if the problem of biofuels was limited to France and ethanol ... : Cry:

In short, from my point of view: not good at all but very interesting if you are interested ... ethanol fuel only ...

I appear at the very beginning of page 4:

Christophe MARTZ, Editorial manager - Engineer ENSAIS ECONOLOGIE Plainevaux

Well I know "editorial manager" it sounds a bit pompous but hey ... it was not to be too "extra terrestrial" compared to others.

Next year I will try to find better : Cheesy:
