the "organic" mobile according to Samsung

by recyclinage » 08/08/09, 21:14

Samsung has just announced the release in the United States, via the operator Sprint, of a new “green” mobile. After the “E200 Eco” and the “Blue Earth” (mobile that recharges with solar energy), the South Korean unveiled the “Reclaim”.

It is a 3G mobile made from 80% recycled materials. Classic in appearance, it contains a sliding QWERTY keyboard, a 2 megapixel digital camera, stereo Bluetooth, a GPS chip and a Micro SD HC memory slot to use it for its multimedia functions. But where it innovates is in its design, using "bio plastics" and being delivered without user manual. It will be necessary to go on the Internet to read it in digital version.

Its shell is also made of 40% corn while the mobile is delivered in a box also made of 70% recycled materials. Finally, the “Reclaim” is delivered with a mains charger consuming 12 times less energy than conventional chargers on the market. Interesting detail, for each “organic” Samsung mobile purchased at a price of 50 dollars, 2 dollars will be donated to an association for the protection of nature.
