Ideas and Debates> Books The French are becoming “econologists” [09/05/08] “The State of Opinion”, presented by Olivier Duhamelet Brice Teinturier, Seuil editions, 269 pages, 27 euros.
The subject. This 25th volume of the TNS Sofres annual series devoted to "The state of opinion" includes the main surveys of the French leader in opinion studies published last year. Politics is in the spotlight, with an essay by Brice Teinturier, the director of political studies at TNS Sofres. Nicolas Sarkozy is described there as the “leader” par excellence, the man of action and of course of rupture. The economy is not left out with the appearance of “econology”, an “individual and popular” practice of sustainable development. Are "econologists", understand "thrifty and ecologists", the French who have started to take measures on their automobile budget or their energy bill.
The authors. Several major contributors to this edition presented by Olivier Duhamel and Brice Teinturier, with political scientist Gérard Grunberg, author of several books on the PS, who here draws lessons from the socialist defeat; but also the journalists Alexis Brézet of "Figaro" and the editorialist Bernard Guetta.
Most. The last chapter is a primer on the results of 42 polls published in 2007: television in “Télérama” last summer, the engagement of women in “Jasmin” in April, etc.
