Small ecology lesson: wolves in Yellowstone

by elephant » 31/10/14, 18:48

An interesting little article on the positive impact of the reintegration of the wolf in Yellowstone Park.

http://dailygeekshow.com/2014/10/25/lou ... c-naturel/

Basically and very briefly: the wolves ate the deer that damaged the trees, suddenly, the trees regenerated in some places, suddenly the piafs and beavers returned, and so on ....

But there are always deer.

It is always the predators placed at the top of the food chain that determine the biodiversity and richness of an ecosystem and not the reverse, as was commonly accepted until recently.
