Peak of pollution with nitrogen dioxide in Clermont-Ferrand

The 19 / 12 / 2007 to 15: 42

A peak of nitrogen dioxide pollution was recorded Wednesday on the agglomeration of Clermont-Ferrand, announced the Association for the measurement of atmospheric pollution of Auvergne (Atmo Auvergne).

Nitrogen dioxide concentrations of 206, 210 and 244 micrograms per cubic meter of air were recorded late Wednesday morning, translating "widespread pollution in the Clermont-Ferrand / Issoire / Riom region", indicates Atmo Auvergne, in a press release.

"The accumulation of this pollutant, mainly from cars, and other primary pollutants like suspended particles, was favored by the anti-cyclonic conditions which limited the dispersion ", underlines the press release.

Sensitive populations are recommended to avoid all intense physical activity and motorists to use their personal vehicle.

The last episode of nitrogen dioxide pollution in Clermont-Ferrand dates back to December 27, 2006.

It is of diesel origin = nitrogen dioxide + particles ??

This is not a problem of CO2.

Fortunately, I do not live in town, I am 12 kms from Issoire.

Only when he has brought down the last tree, the last river contaminated, the last fish caught that man will realize that money is not edible (Indian MOHAWK).

What do you think of this kind of pollution? :

"Concentrations of nitrogen dioxide of 206, 210 and 244 micrograms per cubic meter of air "

"The accumulation of this pollutant, mainly automotive, and other primary pollutants like suspended particles, was favored by the anti-cyclonic conditions which limited the dispersion "

nitrogen dioxide + particles ... it's mostly diesel? for particles there must also be all oil heaters? .. + some factories like Michelin?

According to the press release from ATMO Auvergne, it is mainly of automobile origin.

Again the journalists forget parameters.

In my opinion this pollution is mainly due to the boilers which are currently running at "full" speed!

Most boilers still in operation are not basnox (low Nox emissions) ... (just like turbo wood stoves)

It is easier to say drive less than change a boiler or heat yourself less ...

No no, it is not the journalists, it is ATMO Auvergne: it is they who make the measurements with their devices, they are scientists who know what they are talking about.

For the origin, we can say what we actually want but Clermont-Ferrand is in a bowl and all the pollution stagnates.

Well there, it will calm down because the temperature has gone up and the pressure drops a little on the barometer (I had set a maximum mark in dec 2005; there we went up almost as high).
