French society as it is and evolves

by democrate » 27/03/06, 17:22

Our current society is a multiracial society (although there is still a lot of intolerance or even racism) It is also multireligious (there are several religions but it is not a religious society, it is secular). Multiple also at the level of his spiritual beliefs or non-belief (atheism or agnosticism). Multiple at the philosophical level and of course multiple at the level of his political ideas or simply ideas without political contribution (apoliticalism). So to manage all these differences, only a democratic, secular society, equal in rights with basic values and not communitarianism (communitarian societies are not egalitarian societies and only generate conflicts or intolerance between people of this society, what we see in certain countries) allows and will allow the management of this multidifferent society. It is also made up of a basic language and culture (a culture currently is not linked to a race, a religion, an ideology, the French who have their families of foreign origins are culturally different from their parents and when they return to the countries of origin of their fathers and mothers, they are considered as foreigners). Our culture like any culture has evolved for centuries and also the people who are in contact with this culture are changed by it and vice versa, but for there to be no cultural shocks people from these other cultures must integrate the culture base of the host country. For France it is French culture, which does not prevent the evolution of this culture (French culture is not the same as it was 100 years ago). It is not evolution of cultures which is bad is communitarianism (intolerance, inter-community conflicts ect) or a world without cultures. The current globalization destroys the world cultures and offers in exchange only a non-culture linked to the possession of goods and does not allow the appearance of democratic rights in the systems of world societies. Economic globalization must be regulated and it would be better to allow the emergence of democratic rights on a world level than this immense ultra-liberal market without regulation (a non-ultra-liberal market economy, that is to say with rules).
In conclusion: Only a secular and truly democratic system allowing sustainable and ethical development is viable. Democracy does not mean angelism and anarchy, nor dictatorship either. Also in a true democracy it is not economic pressure groups, people of a certain social category, communities of any origin whatsoever, minorities seeking regional autonomy or independence, religious groups and even politicians who make this democracy. The individual or the citizen has rights whatever his race, his religion, his sex, his spiritual, philosophical beliefs and his political ideas or his apoliticalism. A more civic and humanist democracy is the future
