GM connects with REVA in India
GM's Indian division and Reva Electric Car Company announce the signing of a partnership agreement. Goal ? The development of electric cars for the local market.
By approaching REVA, General Motors chooses a recognized ally in the field of electric vehicles. The Indian company has accumulated more than 14 years of experience in the research and development of these alternative energy vehicles. An experience staged by two models in Frankfurt. The firm thus exposed the NXR and the NXG concept, which we expect to launch on certain European markets in 2010 and 2011.
Today, REVA is testing the marketing of its products in 24 countries (Asia, Latin America, Europe, notably England via G-Wiz). The Indian company reports the sale of 3 units.
This partnership between the two manufacturers aims to jointly develop vehicle platforms, electric motors and advanced vehicle management systems. Their ambition is thus to create and launch an affordable small car for the local market.
More advanced feasibility studies are already underway regarding the transfer of electrical technology to small GM platforms. What model exactly? We don't know more, but GM and Reva plan to give more details soon. As for production, it will start next year if all goes well.
