Fourteen priorities for the 21st century man

by louphil » 29/02/08, 12:20

Here is an extract from an article published in "Elektor" (electronic and computer magazine)

The American National Academy of Engineering has counted that, to improve the quality of its existence, humanity will have to meet fourteen challenges in the course of the century that has begun. Chaired by William Perry, former Secretary of Defense for Bill Clinton, the committee of 18 experts founded in 2006 by the Academy, chose exclusively projects that the human being is capable of carrying out, thanks to his creativity and the implementation common of its resources. Far from the generalist utopias with which the media water us ...

The following : http://www.elektor.fr/nouvelles/quatorze-priorites-pour-l-homme-du-xxie-siecle.374947.lynkx

I think they forgot, among other things, an overhaul of economic systems whose limits we see periodically, taking into account other human and environmental criteria in the various indices, or even a more profound overhaul ... and of course. other things like energy storage and others ... But the idea is, in my opinion, to be welcomed, unless it is still a measure to give people the impression that they have " right to cite "(I hope this is the correct spelling for the right to cite)

The 14 "out of order" objectives

make solar energy profitable
tame nuclear fusion
design CO2 traps
manage the nitrogen cycle
provide access to safe water
restore and improve urban infrastructure
medical informatics
pharmaceutical technology
understand how the human brain works
prevent nuclear threats
secure cyberspace
virtual reality
customize education
make new tools for scientific research

The first is by far the most important in my opinion, from which the successes of many of the other following objectives follow ...

It seems to me that in this list, some priorities are not, and even have nothing to do in this list like the personalization of education which would be precisely to banish. On the other hand, like access to clean water is sorely lacking in precision: if it is paid access, then in my opinion it is not a priority ... Access to clean water should be public service order ... internationally ...

"preventing nuclear threats" would already be covering the primary needs of the whole of humanity on the one hand, and giving it access to knowledge on the other hand ... As long as there are miseries that the we can indoctrinate easily, on that side, everything will always be possible ...

Otherwise, +1 with you, Remundo, for solar energy, on condition that "someone" does not find a way to appropriate all the benefits as with oil or uranium, and then make it rain and shine -time ... It is also a bit for this purpose that I (re) launched this subject:

Absolutely! It would even be there that we should start ...

But as long as our dear economic and political leaders base themselves on false indicators like inflation and GDP (from which is derived GROWTH which is the biggest lie that we have been telling people for a while) as they are calculated currently, we will get nowhere ... except in the wall ... : Evil:

I wrote a short story about this not too long ago but remained more or less "without follow-up":

For the 14 objectives, there is good and not so good ...

I would add a fundamental:

reverse our social values (it would be the one with the heaviest box which would be the least seen ... by itself)

By the way, what is "profitability"? It would be time to open a subject on this subject ... I take care of it immediately!
