An audit of the past five years of the company is due tomorrow. Eco-Emballages has been in turmoil since the revelation of the placement of part of its cash in the Cayman Islands.
Bernard Hérodin, CEO of Eco-Emballages, left office on Sunday after a board meeting. The information was revealed by the site "Pro-environnement.com" and confirmed Monday by the Ministry of Ecology, Energy and sustainable development.
An audit of the last five years of the company must be presented tomorrow at the meeting of the approval committee for eco-organizations. The audit concerns risks of loss linked to unsecured investments in tax havens.
Eco-Emballages, company approved by the public authorities to financially assist the selective collection and sorting of household packaging waste, has been in turmoil since the revelation on December 9 of the placement of part of its cash in the Cayman Islands, generating a risk of financial losses. The Ministry of Sustainable Development then asked that the board of directors of Eco-Packagings "quickly draws in terms of corporate governance all the consequences so that this risk does not recur". The Minister of Sustainable Development Jean-Louis Borloo who declared himself "scandalized" by this affair, had indicated to have asked that "measures be taken, failing which the approval of the State will be suspended". "I do not accept that 60 million euros intended for local authorities are placed in a tax haven ", hammered the minister Wednesday on the sidelines of the UN conference on climate in Poznan.
