I like this graph which allows to compare the different energies.
I found this graphic on the website of the school of petroleum and engines.
Now we can apply the same thing to compressed air.
But the graph does not reflect the downstream, ie the efficiency of the "engine" used.

Yes it summarizes well what is called energy density!
Where do you think compressed air would be? Obviously not as good as compressed H2 ...
For those who want to know more a complete document on energy storage methods (but in English)

Toutafé!
And the table only talks about storage and not about the different yields ...
ps: do not confuse energy density which is a technological quantity and energy intensity which is a statistical quantity

I no longer know the exact figures.
I knew one day but I don't know either ... I think it's a coef from 2000 ... but to be confirmed ...
Otherwise, the better the energy density should be the merged hydrogen ...
But hey it's a bit cheating to compare nuclear reactions to the combustion (or expansion) of a fluid ...
ps: in the doc that I have just mentioned, compressed air is not so badly placed at the level "field" of use (but that does not concern the efficiency and the energy density). Page 23 there is a good summary table

Yes renaud but I don't quite understand your remark: you mean that there is no source of compressed air on earth?
