Another nice subject, but I find you all very pessimistic.
The massive release of methane following the melting of permafrost is a problem that very few specialists had anticipated, only 10 years ago.
This means if we can count on "specialists" (in the generic sense of the term!) To properly apprehend the impacts of any technologies that are supposed to get us out of there ...
I'm not sure it should be counted on!
Some climatologists put forward the idea of a threshold, or point of no return, beyond which we will witness helplessly a global climate runaway.
Here is a link to a debate that took place on Infoclimat:
The concept of point of no return
We are not there yet, and each day spent wondering "What are we going to do ?!" is one day too long.
What a discouragement, when I read that acting alone in your corner is useless ... This is the height of pessimism.
I take the example of my companion who, when we got to know each other, knew nothing about the ecological problems which threatened the World because no one explained the stakes to it.
For some time now, it is she who has encouraged me to go ever further in our daily actions in order to reduce our environmental impact.
Being the founder of an association, which is now two years old and which acts with a view to raising public awareness of environmental issues, I can tell you that the mobilization ended up paying off. During actions to clean up sensitive sites, what is not our satisfaction to see hikers, fishermen (depending on the location) come to help us clear all the litter that we pick up ... And that they are not not always the last to come and drop off, at least for the fishermen with a can of beer who don't leave until the pack is finished (we saw them do it!).
Well, all that put end to end it ended up giving something!
Saying "It's difficult" is the start of all renouncements.
Finally, as some said a little before, the electoral deadlines approaching, let us use the means which will be given to us to express a strong sign in direction of "our leaders" ... And there, the choice of each one will be the good one !! !
