Bloombox: gas fuel cell

by nonoLeRobot » 24/02/10, 13:35

Well there is not much detail but it looks interesting. It would be necessary to be able to compare the performances with the traditional die:

gas -> heat -> steam -> turbine -> electricity.

The news is not uninteresting in itself, especially since it evokes the possibility of using a biogas.

Even if you use natural gas, it consumes oil : Evil: if the only rejection is water, it's better :D

Wait and see!

Awesome Kistinie.

Now are there any who know the performance of gas plants and who can make a rough comparison?

Ok there is info in fact:

DFC power plants are 47% efficient in the generation of electrical power and up to 80% efficient overall in Combined Heat and Power (CHP) applications when the byproduct heat is used. Typical fossil fuel-powered plants operate at about 35% electrical power generation efficiency.

Performance of 47% vs 35% is not bad but not yet revolutionary. Must see also the gray energy now.

Hello

there is even Colin Powell who presents us the "massive production box" (unrelated to an intervention of himself at the UN a few years ago)
