A driver fined for "too low speed"

by Targol » 26/10/06, 10:58

LES SABLES D'OLONNE (AFP) - A driver was fined in Les Sables d'Olonne for "too low speed" (36 km / h) at the edge of the beach where the speed was limited to 50 km / h, causing exasperation of the drivers following him.
The man in his forties was checked with binoculars at 36 km / h while behind him the calls of the headlights increased. He was fined last Friday around 16:00 p.m. for "too low a speed" with a fine of 22 euros. An offense provided for in the article of the highway code R413-19 but "extremely rare", according to the police station of Sables d'Olonne.

"For the verbalization to be valid, it must be established that the driver was driving below an average speed and was a nuisance to other vehicles", according to the same source.

No minimum speed is prescribed by law on roads except on motorways where the minimum speed allowed on the left lane is 80 km / h.

Especially that at that time, the average speed of all the motorists who followed him, was 36 km / h ...
That there is no approved average speed control.
I especially see the exasperation on the part of the bounty hunters, in hunting action, who will not be able to fulfill their objectives of number of pv, that day.
Legally this does not hold up, before a court. But will the person go all the way, for 22 €? This is the problem of our society and the respect of the cytoyen.
