IPCC: Meeting in Paris on global warming

by jean63 » 29/01/07, 10:21

read the article + world map "CO2 emissions per inhabitant !!! + El Nino phenomenon (infographic on the right)
On the basis of its initial work, the international community drew up in 1992 the UN Convention on climate change and then, in 1997, the Kyoto Protocol for combating the greenhouse effect. Greenhouse gases, foremost among which is carbon dioxide (CO2) emitted by the combustion of fossil fuels, are implicated in global warming which they enclose like a heated helmet.

The global thermometer has gained 0,8 ° since the beginning of the 19th century with a marked acceleration over the last 30 years, which scientists attribute with more and more certainty to greenhouse gases mainly emitted by fossil fuels ( gas, oil, coal).

Only when he has brought down the last tree, the last river contaminated, the last fish caught that man will realize that money is not edible (Indian MOHAWK).

And yes, it is the 2007 meeting of the IPCC, which will serve to complete the next "Assessment Report", the fourth I believe. This is the must-read tip for anyone who wants to dig a little deeper into the issue of global warming.

The publications are on their website: www.ipcc.ch

See on Kyot-Home for an ultra-light version of previous publications (2001).

Heard it on the radio:

WANTED

$ 10 is what Exxon earns in seconds ... A bit easy, right?

Sea level, widely reported by the media, is in my opinion a very very small consequence (not to say "insignificant") of the greenhouse effect in comparison with other climatic or biological celebrations that await us ...

in the short term, that's for sure. Look at my daughter's contribution to this study (added in my previous post).

Yes of course, but after her post-doc in November 2007, she risks finding herself without a job, unless she goes to the USA !! (she has been to California several times to conferences on global warming).

Another article on the Paris meeting:
http://www.orange.fr/bin/frame.cgi?u=ht ... ement.html

The 4th scientific report of the IPCC - created in 1988 by the United Nations - also reflects the strengthened conviction of experts on the responsibility of man in the warming observed for 50 years, which cannot be explained by natural variability alone.

Never, they point out, the concentrations of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere have been so high for 650.000 years.

The purpose of the IPCC's work is precisely to found the response of the leaders of the planet to global warming, in particular within the framework of the Kyoto protocol.

There is an excellent diagram on the evolution of temperatures predicted in the XNUMXst century.
