Yes, it is quite possible that there has been research of this kind.

By the way, at the bottom of the page I sometimes have a mosaic of images with a mix of real ads and links to topics from forum ;
I find it good because not aggressive and the subjects of forum are related to my preferences.
This mosaic is generated by the site itself?
