It would appear that FlyTox has a deep understanding of potential problems on an engine. I would be curious to have his opinion on the Canadian QuasiTurbine. (http://quasiturbine.promci.qc.ca/)
There is already something in Wikipedia but I would like to have several points of view.

Re: About cooling
Hello PhL38
no it just seemed to me to see 2 or 3 trick / hard points in the development without counting all those which I have not seen ... and all the strong points which escaped me ...
For the quasi turbine, it is a beautiful piece of mechanics fruit of inventive brains. Regarding its use as a heat engine, I have big doubts about the strength of the heat-tight joints in a corrosive hostile environment, etc. ... lubrication ????
Another problem, from the point of view of combustion efficiency, the ratio (volume of useful gas (engine)) / (surface of exchange with the walls) is particularly unfavorable. A very large part of the heat energy from the gases will pass into the cooling system.

Extract from WIKI:
"The QT-AC (With Carts) is intended for the detonation mode, where the high surface area to volume ratio is a mitigating factor of the detonation."
My feeling tells me the opposite the carriages in brown on the animation are more than difficult to cool (very small cooling contact surfaces), so very hot, so detonate ....

Hi flytox,
c cool the little explanation and the little anim link ... thank you
On the other hand, I think you have misinterpreted the sentence "The QT-AC (With Chariots) is intended for the detonation mode, where the high surface / volume ratio is a mitigating factor of the detonation."
Yes as you think, the QTAC is likely to detonate, and its manufacturers wish it to detonate: the high surface / volume ratio attenuates the mechanical violence of the detonation, but not the fact that it occurs or not. St Hilaire thinks that being able to manage this operating mode (by detonation) would increase engine performance. He explains that his engine is supposed to resist by what it has gd ratio surface / voume in the room (better to transmit an abrupt contribution of energy), and that the relaxation is faster than in the piston engines or that in the wankel. To experience ...

Hello minguinhirigue
Indeed, if they manage to pass the endurance tests on the engine test bench in detonation mode, in theory we can recover more energy. To validate a car engine it is around (3000 hours?) Of use. If they arrive at this result ....
