http://ases.org/2012/03/obama-visits-am ... -pv-array/

The article is not sufficient to indicate the power of the plant.

So here: http://www.semprausgp.com/energy-soluti ... -cms1.html they say 58 MW.

It is not an inauguration, since it came into service in Dec 2010

The Bordeaux Exhibition Center gets a solar power station

Next month will take place the commissioning of the solar power station located on the Bordeaux exhibition center and including no less than 60.000 photovoltaic panels for a total installed power of 12 MWc.

05 April 2012 Enerzine.com

South facing, the solar panels that cover the shadows of some 7.000 exhibition parking spaces - 20 hectares ** - will produce around 13.000 MWh per year, equivalent to the electricity consumption of 5.000 homes or even more than 6 months of the consumption of public lighting in Bordeaux. This facility will also save 1.700 tons of CO2 emissions per year.

The structures of the shades are anchored on deep foundations (near 900 screw piles are going to be drilled) and consist of a metal frame. Each shade has a coverage width of 2 places (10 meters) and a length between 30 and 70 meters. Their height is between 3.10 and 5.50 meters. They are connected between 2 or 3, and are oriented south.

Monocrystalline silicon photovoltaic modules are integrated into the shades covering the parking spaces. According to SBEPEC (Bordeaux Society for Public Exhibition and Congress Equipment), these were chosen for their "technological quality" and their excellent "surface efficiency". The photovoltaic panels are placed on the steel tanks of the shade structure: "they are therefore not accessible from the underside."

In addition, the structures, shaped waves, are of different colors to facilitate the identification of visitors who came to pick up their vehicle.

This project initialized in 2008 by the SBEPEC, was the subject in July 2010 of a call for tender won by EDF Energies Nouvelles, the green subsidiary of EDF. The latter who invested 55 million has committed to pay annually 300.000 euros to the SBEPEC, for the occupation of the site.

The final commissioning of the solar park should take place at the Bordeaux International Fair, which will be held from 12 to 21 May at the exhibition center. The organizers expect about 300.000 visitors.

The project as a whole includes:

the installation of 78 500 m2 photovoltaic panels for a total installed power of 12 MW
the closure of the entire site and its access control
signage with color coded by zone, lighting of the car park and improvement of pedestrian paths
the installation of a billboard on the amount of clean energy produced by landscaping and central medians.

At home, it is mini, which explains that the installed kWc is more expensive: 20 500 € for 3 kWc, 6833 € the installed kWp.

Hello to you ,
The fact is also when France if you want to benefit from purchase rates you can not do your installation yourself, unlike a village in Germany, difference in one year they became autonomous, living more school buildings and administrative.

If there are some who pass to the airport of Dusseldorf he will be able to see 2MW of photovoltaic:

Düsseldorf Airport Installs One of Germany's Largest Solar Panels

December 30th

Düsseldorf International Airport is about to launch one of the largest photovoltaic areas in Germany.

Strong 8400 panels, producing some 2 megawatts of solar energy, they extend on a space equivalent to six football fields. This power station was completed in time to start powering the airport before the clock sounded 2012. In order to prove the efficiency of photovoltaics every day, a real-time meter has been installed in the lobby so that passengers can see how much energy is being produced and how much carbon dioxide has been preserved.

Construction lasted only eight weeks, from October to today. This utopia has become a reality thanks to a partnership between Düsseldorf International and a public service subsidiary of the city, Grünwerke GmbH. "A photovoltaic system of this size, within the security parameters of one of the country's largest airports, reflects a new way of thinking about renewable energies, and we welcome it as a contribution by our city to the service of the world. 'environment', said Dirk Elbers, Mayor of Düsseldorf.

The solar panel is the largest system built in the security zone of a German airport. But this is not the first incursion of the Düsseldorf airport into renewable energies. "Solar energy is not the only source of renewable energy in DHS. We also use combined heat and power in a central heating block to keep carbon emissions down even lower, "said Christoph Blume, CEO of DHS. The new solar array will create enough energy to cover the equivalent of 600 homes each year.

Well, do not exaggerate, '' of the largest photovoltaic area in Germany. '' is not deserved. Would need> 10 MWp to merit ca.

A solar PV plant in Arizona (Aqua Caliente) reached the completion of 100 MegaWattc.
The total project is 290 MegaWattc which must be finalized in 2014.
It will be the largest PV installation in the world.

Arizona solar project reaches 100MW mark

April 26, 2012

The world's largest photovoltaic power plant, the Aqua Caliente project in Arizona reached the 100-megawatt milestone, companies said.

Executives from NRG Energy Inc., MidAmerican Solar and First Solar Inc., with Arizona representatives 100 megawatts to the grid 290 MW Aqua Caliente solar project.

“Agua Caliente will provide a positive impact on the environment and create jobs,” said Paul Caudill, president of MidAmerican Solar. "Projects such as Agua Caliente will play a central role in our nation's long-term electric energy supply and in our national transition to cleaner energy sources."

Utility company Pacific Gas and Electric has a 25-year agreement for the project's entire capacity. When completed in 2014, it will be the largest PV power plant in the world5.5 million tons of carbon dioxide during the next 25 years.

"Large-scale projects like this also help drive down the price of solar, which will make it even more cost-competitive with conventional electricity generation in the near future," NRG President Tom Doyle said.

and others :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_power_in_Arizona

and they do not lack sun, even W Buffet invests in it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Solar

and Cd and Te are powerful and polluting poisons !!!!

First Solar manufactures cadmium telluride (CdTe) -based photovoltaic (PV) modules, which produce electricity with a thin CdTe film on glass. [9] In July 2011, the company reached 17.3 percent efficiency, breaking the record set by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory

and Forhorse will say that I am only copying wikipedia, yet minimum to know.

The ENFI Chinese have built and commissioned the largest solar PV plant with tracking in the world. 30 MW power. http://www.chinatechgadget.com/china-ha ... ngxia.html

China has built World's Largest Solar Power Tracking Station in Ningxia

22 March 2012

China ENFI Engineering Corp. (ENFI) announced that, ENFI Ningxia Zhongwei Tianjingshan 30MW Photovoltaic Power Works, which was under full-process planning, investment, construction and operation by ENFI, was successfully combined to the grid and put into commissioning on December 22, 2011.

Image

Solar photovoltaic power station with the maximum installed capacity in the worldit is fully equipped with the intelligent linkage tracking system which is independently developed by ENFI. This system will be greatly enhanced by photovoltaic power generation, and will be greatly enhanced by the use of photovoltaic power generation. Compared with the traditional solar photovoltaic power station, it will contribute to an increase in 25% power output and the annual average generated energy will be up to 54 million KWH. On this ground, a total increase of 270 million KWH during the 25-year operation period.

This project is contracted by ENFI on an EPC basis. The construction works under the first phase (10MW) was formally commenced in March 2011 and completed in August in this year; the second phase (20MW) was started in October 2011, and completion acceptance as fulfilled in November 2011, marking a new record in terms of the construction speed of solar photovoltaic power station. In addition, the commissioning and grid connection works for the 30MW solar photovoltaic power station was successfully finished at one go-off, enabling the facility to generate benefit in the same year of construction. Taking advantage of technical R&D, fine design and scientific management, ENFI has stepped onto a new level in terms of the scientific technology and the power generation efficiency in this industry. As a matter of fact, a saving of 20% was realized on the investment costs and a satisfactory EPC benefit was eventually achieved.

Under this project, solar energy is used for a generation of zero-emission, which will be reduced to the same level of power, 51,500 million tons will be realized during the 1.3-year operational period. Comparing with the traditional thermal power works, the implementation of this project will result in: (i) coal saving for coal-fired power station; (ii) reduction of greenhouse gas emission; (iii) increasing of power supply and CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) achievements; and (iv) bringing about perfect economic benefits and long-lasting environmental benefits.
