Whistleblowers: those citizens who defend justice!

Whistleblowers

Keywords: Consumption Economy Sciences Society Document

They are called "whistleblowers". Their common point: to speak up when others are silent.

Men and women who one day take the risk of sacrificing their career, their comfort, their private life, to denounce what they feel is unfair in their work. And who suffer the consequences. Four portraits illustrate these "indignant" who take action:

- Sihem Souid is a police officer. She denounced the harassment at work suffered by some police officers. Layoff for 6 months.

- Jean-Luc Touly, employee of a multinational water company explains to local elected officials how to lower the price of water in their towns. He was dismissed, then reinstated by legal process. He is "in the closet" today.

- Suzane de Bégon, ex-entrepreneur, ruined today, is at the origin of the denunciation of a medical scandal: the sterilization of baby bottles with ethylene oxide.

- Irène Frachon, symbol of whistleblowers. She succeeded in having the Mediator banned and is now in charge of helping victims of this drug.

The list is really long.
There was even this:
"on Canal +, Luc Ferry accused a former minister of having had ... on minors in Morocco" what a fine example.

And on the bags of funding for political parties in France or abroad. To each dictator who falls: his share of revelation.

...
But it's not really a civic act (whistleblowers): it's out of disgust or last-minute weapon there

What a good idea this thread ...!

Of which we can extend the list:
Jesus Christ - if indeed it existed in its description given in the bible - was it not one of them? (To say that it has existed for all time?)
- in more recent history, and closer to the definition: there has obviously been Henri Dunant, the founder of the Red Cross following the massacres of the Battle of Solferino, which was for him HIS means of "sounding the alarm" on what was happening on the battlefields ...
- one of them that comes to mind in the post-war period (and I quote it in homage to many others who sacrificed themselves like him, because he would not have wanted us to the forgetfulness) was probably Martin Luther King, who castigated racism in the United States, in several famous speeches, including "I have a dream ...»
- Then in recent times: Julian Assange himself, sued for "sexual harassment" of victims "consenting" at first, and who moreover confessed to have joined his movement for obscure reasons ...
- the Private Manning, imprisoned for having handed over hidden films of reporters whose execution by helicopter in Iraq, had been filmed by the soldiers themselves (then who attacked even the survivors and those who tried to evacuate them, killing many other civilians in passing) and which showed to what extent the American forces disregard civilians on the ground, going so far as to commit such barbaric acts;
- soldiers who died in combat, just for wanting to alert their comrades of the arrival of the enemy, are also "whistleblowers";
- and we must not forget either, other valiant people who create sites to the glory of the protection of the environment, on their own funds and at the risk of harming their personal lives ... The very branch of ecology, was it not even born of this concern to "give the alert"? Not to mention philosophy (of course, with all the retinue of philosophers who have worked in this direction) ...
- some political figures too, who took risks that went beyond the role of their function: such as Yulia Tymoshenko, imprisoned for having denounced the blackmail at the price of gas exercised by Russia, by taking part of the latter as a "right of passage", to heat its population ...! José Bové, imprisoned for having denounced the GMO scandal and mowing fields;
- certain inventors and industrialists too, who have chosen as a means of alerting, the manufacture of concrete objects to remedy what they consider to be "shortcomings": it is also a way of contributing to an improvement in things!
- and obviously many artists and writers ... even journalists: like Christmas Mamère, who could no longer be powerless in the face of current events, decided to "take action" ...
- and even and above all scientists! As Einstein, Linus Pauling, or Catherine kousmine...

We are not going to forget either, the relays of some "whistleblowers":
Wikileaks;
Anonymous;

But I don't quite agree with this qualifier like Plasmanu, for different reasons:
- it is likely to minimize the action of these courageous people, since in the meantime we ask ourselves “but what is the police doing?”;
- it is a bit of "an admission of helplessness to which we would have given a name", to release society from its shortcomings when we would still tend to say: "...so what?»
- because this term was found and spread, to make admit the inadmissible, by a sleight of hand by just sticking a label on an often heroic act, to give a clear conscience to the sheep of the consumer society, who continue to shout happily regardless of the alerts: we still want to say "...so what?"...

Thewhistleblowers"Are they not very often"activists"? See "(r) evolutionary», Then there is the great leap into the void! The "whistleblowers"Are they the last frontier before the act of"terrorism», Where there is a transgression out of desperation (or whatever the motive not expressed otherwise for that matter ...)?

Note that in this case, it is better for them that they name themselves thus ...

Because we mustn't kid ourselves, there aren't enough of them listening to them. But listening to them can also be a trap! How to get out? Because there is also a flip side to paying attention to them. Society must measure the advantages and the benefits!
The whole question is now to know: how society should better take them into account and "take action" itself to remedy these situations (rather than seeking to supervise them, at the risk of drowning the fish or the latter themselves take action in general misunderstanding: as with the drama of 9/11 or more recently the drama of Norway ...). It is a very good first step to have recognized it, one awaits a continuation “more official”… To try to solve the insoluble research of “need of constraint”, of the humans in the company! (Or get out of it ...)

It still deserved a huge hat trick!

Hi plasmanu

Yeah !! Alexander Litvinenko
http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexandre_Litvinenko

executed by his Brothers in Arms

It is the KGB which makes the "PUB" !! lol

The dark side of whistleblowers is Einstein
without its support, there would have been no atomic bomb in 1945.

This is kind of what I'm saying, the example of the pyromaniac firefighter who has become a “whistleblower” (in a way, they are also ...). Who will then tell you how dangerous it is to set a house on fire : Lol:

This is the worst oh man!

PS: but tkt, there would have been another to find it, the human destructive "genius" having no limit ...

And then all the truths are not good to say !!!
One can pass for a sweet dreamer or a madman.
And a well conditioned brain will refuse to admit the obvious.
(like sects or cigarettes).

Retaliation can be terrible.

It reminds me of eastern countries. Not that long ago.
On a news channel: the translator for the deaf and mute who swings. something like: "it's wrong: the government is lying to you ..." only the deaf we saw immediately.

Yes, I've even heard vaguely about the "freedom of press» : Lol:

Should ask Sarkozy's team and himself what they think of it, hahahaha ...

Maybe we should finally guarantee it! But it is still a double-edged sword.

The biggest step would be to move towards individual freedom. The truth! That of the autonomy of full-fledged citizens: in particular with the advent of a minimum integration wage guarantees: whatever happens ...

I think that could move the schmilblick forward, because we would no longer live in a society dominated by fear! They could start this in a village, on an experimental basis! Then extend it to a city to see, then to the whole country if there is positive feedback.

Much of the blah-blah-blah around the job would fall apart. We would then have to look for the real causes of the economic problems in order to offer full employment to all! I mean by that, to find for each one the dignity of being useful to others, to the whole of society!

Who is not convinced that societies are not yet sufficiently emancipated and mature for that, although they have never been so close (here I speak only in the West ...), Who is not convinced that the vast majority of the population still need to be under the direction of a boss to actually get to work ?! Unfortunately, many still need constraints to be able to take responsibility, don't they?

obamot hello
What a good idea this thread ...!

Of which we can extend the list:
- Jesus Christ - if indeed he existed in his description given in the bible - was he not one of them? (To say that it has existed for all time?)

Indeed, at all times there have been sentries raising cries of alarm in the face of danger. The problem is that this danger comes from everywhere at the same time and thousands are making these cries and humanly it is impossible to hear them all. So each, according to his sensitivity, hears this one and remains deaf to that one.

Some time ago (at the time when the environment was of little interest), an author Gunther Schwab wrote a huge work, a small part of which was first edited: "Dancing with the devil" (not having nothing religious besides) featuring the devil in the form of a businessman, recruiting angels for his project to destroy life on earth and therefore of an American journalist, a Swedish poet, a female French doctor and a German technician. In the dialogue that follows each future recruit seeks to demonstrate that each in his field has allowed our human society to progress in the field of life (symbolized by these 4 actors). And the businessman demonstrates that, contrary to the illusions that everyone has, he is behind all this and that under the appearances of improving he only destroys under the guise of a better, of a plus, which he then figures: food , health, environment, nuclear, air and water pollution, etc ... each time with specialized demons introduced to the highest management and decision-making bodies.
Humanity has woven a web in which it is entangled and the more it agitates, the more it becomes entangled. The essence of this work is to show that the struggle is more spiritual than material and changing appearances does not change the substance, the state of mind, of conscience and it is this which must change first and on an individual level first. Without this preliminary step, the rest is just agitation.

The paradox is that, by way of example: the "managers" and other accountants in our right-wing Helvetia, have often been by tradition convinced practitioners, since privileged among the ... initiated! But - flip side - as bleating sheep, they never, ever, question or endanger their own privileges. : Lol: (who were not follichons for the most part, I admit it ...)

This is what is called, however, having the wallet in the right pocket! : Mrgreen: VS the heart on the hand!

All fuck up the camps!

Well, well ... I would add that others whistleblowers are now pointing the finger at banks as the main institutions at the source of global warming!

But what relationship between their job: "Oikos - nomos" (the economy, originally: "domestic management"), with the management of "business"?

It's quite simple: any large project (polluting or not) requiring financing, it necessarily goes through the banks: and by giving their approval on simple economic and financial considerations exclusively based and modeled on that of the yields of stock market speculation, these therefore contribute - like no other - directly to global warming ... The manager is therefore moving away from his "moral duty" ... because to manage is to plan judiciously! And planning wisely in a family means trying to understand in a “fair” and therefore equitable way! (I give back to "nature" what I took for my survival ... and even, to give back a little more: it is to preserve its capital...)

Not content with this enormous hypocrisy, if we extended that to other social ills, we can see that the banks also play a very considerable role as the gravedigger of civilization and societies in many areas, simply by ricochet ( one can find other examples in this field besides: the factories of armaments, the chemical industry which self-sustains "the needs" to have recourse to it ... the nuclear industry VS the renewable energies). ..

In short, since the managers and the banks left their role, failing to pay dividends in the long term: it costs more and more in the short term!

In short, the global banking system is not far from ethically imploding, isn't it?
