To come back to the sharpening of chainsaw chains ... not being a lumberjack, and not knowing how to handle the file correctly (I often do worse than better) and seen that in addition it is drunk to do that at the lime, I use a workshop electric sharpener. As we cannot (or with difficulty) bring it on site, the trick is to have several channels and to change it as soon as the need arises.
With 3 or 4 chains there is already enough to work ...

The main difficulty in this kind of sharpening (when done manually and with a file) is linked to the asymmetrical nature of the chainsaw: quickly, the angles between the two sides diverge due to a different positioning of the sharpener. depending on the side considered.
The solution of Forhorse is judicious; even for a pro it is necessary to have a plan B ...

It also makes it possible to optimize the time spent on this sharpening task, thanks to the rational grouping of operations, and by having several on hand, to be able to continue working even if one of the chains has broken, which avoids ruining a day in travel, frustration and waste of time.

Precisely, the method ofObamot is to have something on hand! : Wink:
I will add that plan B is superior to plan C, especially when the latter turns out to be nonexistent at the crucial moment ...

So there are 4 plans?

: Cheesy:

Other Variants:
There is plan R, where I buy a chainsaw ...

There is plan P called plan-plan, or do nothing.

+1 Beware of plane “E” of the maximum amount for improvers, which generally comes in cascade, just after the “D” Image
